3 Pros:
✔ Right at the base — about a 3-minute walk to the lifts and steps from the shuttle
✔ Indoor and outdoor heated pools plus a hot tub for after a day out
✔ A cook-in kitchenette — make meals in instead of eating out every night
2 Cons:
✗ It's a studio in a shared, dog-friendly building — open and efficient, and you may occasionally notice neighbor noise
✗ Built in 1999, a 3-star building with dated common areas; no A/C and no in-unit washer/dryer
Guest Access:
You have the entire studio to yourself, plus full access to the Grand Lodge's shared amenities: the indoor and outdoor heated pools, hot tub, gym, and fireplace lobby. There's an elevator to the 3rd floor. Check in yourself anytime with the keypad code — there's no front desk at the Grand Lodge, but we respond quickly by message. Your unit comes with free parking. Shared amenities are operated by the building's HOA and can occasionally close for maintenance.
The Neighborhood:
The Grand Lodge sits right at the base of Mt. Crested Butte, about a 3-minute walk from the Crested Butte Mountain Resort lifts, with shops and dining at the Red Lady Express base and the town shuttle station steps away (the free shuttle runs to town about every 15 minutes). Summer trails leave from the base, and a convenience store and coffee are close by. Historic downtown Crested Butte and its Elk Avenue — galleries, restaurants, and preserved Old West architecture — are about a seven-minute drive. The area is a year-round outdoor base: skiing and snowshoeing in winter; hiking, mountain biking, rafting, and wildflower season in summer. The Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC) is about a 45-minute drive.
Getting Around:
You don't need a car here — the lifts, shops, dining, and a convenience store are all within a short walk, and the town shuttle station is steps from the door (the free shuttle runs about every 15 minutes to historic downtown Crested Butte, roughly 7 minutes away). If you do drive, your unit comes with free parking. The Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC) is about a 45-minute drive; Denver is roughly 4 hours.
