Enjoy the serenity of nature on beautiful Smith Lake. This "tiny house" packs in plenty of farmhouse style worthy of HGTV. The bright and airy home features a Queen memory foam bed in the loft and one Lyksele 2 seater sofa bed in the living area. A Galley kitchen includes microwave, Keurig coffee maker, small fridge, toaster oven and single burner. The full bathroom and shower completes the Cabin. This is perfect for the family or couple seeking a get-a-way. There is no internet access in this cabin, and this allows for the guests to enjoy the nature and peaceful surroundings. The property includes seasonal water, swim platform, kayaks, shed for boat, and community boat launch. After a day of successful fishing, Relax around the firepit or grilling fresh caught bass on the gas grill.

  • Final resting place for Brother Joseph, who created the art that is known as Ave Maria Grotto.This is a cemetery of only monks in residence at St. Bernard Abbey. Ave Maria Grotto, in Cullman, Alabama, is a landscaped, 4-acre park in an old quarry on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey, providing a garden setting for 125 miniature reproductions of some of the most famous religious structures of the world. It was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on February 24, 1976, and to the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 1984. The stone and concrete models are the work of Brother Joseph Zoettl, a Benedictine monk of St. Bernard's Abbey, who devoted some 50 years to the project, the last three decades (1932 to 1961) almost without interruption. They incorporate discarded building supplies, bricks, marbles, tiles, pipes, sea shells, marbles, plastic animals, costume jewellery, toilet bowl floats and cold cream jars. Born in 1878 in the Kingdom of Bavaria, Brother Joseph was maimed in an accident that left him slightly hunched due to cervical kyphosis. He immigrated to the United States as a teenager, settling in northern Alabama. Soon afterward he began studying at the newly founded Benedictine monastery of St. Bernard, where he took his vows in 1897. Br. Joseph was not allowed to be ordained as a priest, due to the rule of the period that stated any man with a distracting disability could not be ordained a priest. He ran the monastery’s power plant and was, even by a monk's standards, a withdrawn, quiet man. Brother Joseph rarely left Alabama, where he died in 1961.

Sister Get Away

No complaints! Nice clean, quiet little place to just get away from reality for a couple of days. We made new friends, about 6 deer visited us a few times throughout the day. Very nice!

Poor Customer Satisfaction

We were unable to stay the second night after the bathroom door fell on my husbands foot. We requested a refund for that night only, but as it was not provided, our attorney has asked us to send the medical bill along with his bill as well. We were very kind about the entire situation, however, professionally speaking, this could have been handled much more accurately and without issues. Otherwise, it was great!

5 year anniversary getaway

Great for a couples getaway

Great little spot away from reality! We sooo enjoyed the kayaks and the laughs that came with that. Great resaurants around the lake and a cozy spot to lay your head make for a chill getaway! The cabin was the perfect place for it!

Salt free facility !!! Lol

Our stay was very enjoyable very nice scenery very nice lake . The deer were amazing enjoyed Kayaks . Only have a few minor complaints . Didnt bring salt and cabin did not have any , no pots for cooking veggies ! Shower door falls off the rail 3 times . The biggest one is the Grill really really really needs a good cleaning its drip pan is full of black yuk ! Its really not useable until its cleaned ! But other then that great stay ! And we Thank you very much for unlocking Kayaks !

Cabin in the woods

We loved our stay. The deer hung out with us all weekend. Could not stay in the loft bc of spiders so we slept on the pull out. The pull out was not comfortable at all. Overall we had a great time and will be coming back!

Cozy Peaceful Getaway

I stayed here over Thanksgiving. It was the definition of cozy and peaceful… the inside is simply adorable. It exceeded my expectations! One thing to note is that the fridge doesn’t have a freezer… which didn’t damper my stay by any means it just meant I had to throw out some ice cream I bought at the store haha. Lovely place in a very quiet neighborhood… I would recommend this spot to anyone for a quiet getaway.

2nd birthday stay in a row

Lake access was my main requirements and this property meets the need for small to medium sized boats. We stayed in july twice and the seasonal water was sufficient for my 17ftbass boat... will stay again. Hard to beat for the price point.

Fish cabin phenomenal!

Even better than pics can describe! Cabin was neat and clean. Beds so comfortable! All you would ever need in a small space and so carefully thought out. Floating dock, kayaking on smith lake, sunbathing, fishing, and mucho relaxation! We will be back again and again. Host is gracious communicator.

Perfect!

Such a delightful little home. Everything was just right. My two daughters and I stayed here while trialing some new ponies at a barn nearby. We enjoyed the kayaking, and just hanging out in the house when we weren’t in the saddle. Such a beautiful and peaceful lake. We will definitely be back!

Close and peaceful

I had the rare privilege of spending a few days with my daughter (16) and son (8). I work in IT and though the lack of internet access may seem like it belongs on the con list, a few days with my babies with no computers, no video games, YouTube, Netflix, etc is something I wouldn't trade for the world. We left with peaceful, quiet minds and full hearts.
