There’s ample parking for cars and a boat, and while the property isn’t fenced, there’s a large grassy area perfect for lawn games. There is a pond on the property so please keep an eye on small children as it is unfenced. From the house, you can even walk through the orchard to reach the shops and beach.

Cooks Beach is a popular holiday spot not too far from Whitianga, with a stunning white sandy beach and sparkling blue water. It's perfect for a morning stroll and swimming. The beach is not patrolled by Surf Lifesavers, so always watch the conditions. With Shakespeare Cliff to the west and the sheltered Purangi Estuary to the east. Take a walk up Shakespeare Cliff; the views are some of the most beautiful you will see. You can also walk down to the beautiful Lonely Bay with its large limestone boulders and white sands, it's a photographer's dream. Cooks Beach itself is perfect for a morning stroll and swimming. You can launch the boat from the Estuary end of the beach, just watch the tides. Cooks Beach has a convenience store and some great eateries. And of course, on the way to Cooks Beach, there are 2 wineries to check out!
Not too far away is Ferry Landing, which has Australasia's oldest stone wall wharf built in 1837; from there, you can catch the passenger ferry to Whitianga.
You are also a short drive away from Hahei, where, when conditions allow, you can walk the track to the world-renowned Cathedral Cove. The walk takes about 40-45 minutes. If you're not up to the walk, you can catch the Water Taxi from Hahei Beach. Also not too far away is Hot Water Beach, where at low tide you can dig a hole and sit in your own little hot pool. Spades can be hired from the local shop.
