Unwind with the entire family in our stunning newer built River House, perfectly situated overlooking the channel of Lake Tainter in Colfax, Wisconsin. This spacious property comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests with its 4 bedrooms, 5 beds, and 3.5 baths. The main floor features an open-concept design with a cozy fireplace, a recreational room, and a covered patio. Large windows throughout the house provide great views of the surrounding wildlife and the river. Kayaks are complimentary for guest use and shared with our other property. We just ask that they’re returned after use so everyone can enjoy them.

For larger groups, you can also reserve our charming small cabin for an additional fee. It sleeps 4 guests with a queen bed and a full-size bed. While the cabin doesn’t have plumbing, it does offer electricity and is within walking distance of the River House. We are located about 10 miles off interstate I-94. Little over an hour away from St. Paul/Minneapolis (MSP Airport, Mall of America). Wood bury ,MN (Wood bury outlet malls) 45 mins away. Eau Claire, and Chippewa Falls are also about 45 minutes away. 15 minutes from down town Menomonie.

Cottage Winery, Lucette Brewery , Golf courses, Red cedar Speedway, WoodWind Park, Hoffman Hills State Recreation, Valley Pasture Pumpkin Patch, Govin Farm and more family entertainment less than 15 mins away from this amazing property!!!

There are nearby restaurants that are accessible by water or land. Jake's Supper Club, Pioneer Grill & Saloon and Elk Point Resort are easy access by boat or vehicle. Jake's has three decks and a fabulous Tiki bar over looking the lake with live bands every weekend in the summer months. Pioneer Bar & Grill is walking distance from Jake's Supper Club, in a country setting with great entertainment! Elk Point Resort has karaoke every Saturday night and put on the BEST firework show every year on July 3rd. Great food and fun atmosphere!

We stayed with the bridal party the night before the wedding. All the wedding planning and anticipation of hoping for an amazing wedding the next day this house added calmness, beauty and relaxation to help all us have the best wedding day. So much room for the girls to get ready for rehearsal and morning of wedding. It was PERFECT!

Long overdue family reunion.

Sadly we came into town from upstate New York for a funeral, but this house and its location were just perfect! Our extended family had a place to meet after the funeral where we found a space that was inviting and relaxing. We laughed, we hugged, and we shared memories. The time spent with family was wonderful. This is such a beautiful well maintained house nestled in the perfect location. Thank you so much for allowing us the use of your beautiful home!!

Family Time

We spent a week and enjoyed the house on Tainter Lake while spending time with family and friends. This was a second time using the rental and will be back. The location is close to Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls and Menomonie. We kayaked, made smores, played games and saw local sites. Great property for 3 generations to enjoy!

Perfect get away!

It was such a perfect weekend! The VRBO was just as described! Our daughter was married over the weekend so it was such a wonderful place to gather with immediate family and relax in between the wedding festivities!!

Great Location!

The property is in a beautiful location, and worked well for our family. There were a few inconveniences; the grill could have had utensils, the patio, grill, and oven could have been clean. The bunk beds in one the rooms is not sturdy, it sways back and forth,.so we couldn't use the top bed. The recliner couch was broken, and the beds were a bit small and lumpy. The pictures in the profile are a little misleading regarding the bedroom space because the "loft room" is a separate little shack; not actually in the house.We loved all of the large windows with amazing views. Having the use of the kayaks was a amazing!

Beautiful, peaceful property

We loved our time at this beautiful home on the river. The fire pit was definitely a highlight. The home was clean and there was plenty of room for our group. The game room was great for the kids. Everything was kept in good order.

Graduation weekend

We had a wonderful weekend hosting family and friends during our student’s graduation weekend. The house was warm and inviting, allowing plenty of space for both togetherness and privacy. Owner was very accommodating, and communication was quick. We would definitely stay again.

Great for multiple families!

We loved our stay. Location was great for us. Close to Jake’s supper club for fine dining and then the Pioneer and Elk River Resort for bar/grill type food. Great for large or multiple families. Plenty of bathrooms and hot water was never a problem! Kitchen has pretty much everything we needed. Outdoor area is awesome. Covered gazebo is beautiful and nice fire pit for nightly fires. Chairs provided! We will definitely be back yearly when our extended family gets together!

Family Vacation

Our family spends a weekly summer vacation together, at different VRBO locations. This location was a wonderful place to enjoy fishing, bonfires, and nature walks together. The location was very easy to find and was conveniently located near Menomonie, which provided several outdoor activities for our family as well. The property is beautiful inside and out, and well cared for. The property had all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay for our family.

Family time in Wisconsin

We spent nearly a week in West Central Wisconsin and had a great time. We ranged in age from 6 months to 73 years old, 3 generations. The River House gave us plenty of room for everyone, the home was very clean and well-appointed. The kayaks were fun, and we visited Crystal Cave, the Children’s Museum and Chippewa Falls. We visited from OK, KS and MO. Definitely will look for this home again, since we visit nearly every June for a family reunion.

Perfect Spot!

The pictures do not do this place justice! There was plenty of room for all of us 9 women on our girls trip to celebrate our friends birthday! We kept saying how nice it was to have so many bathrooms available for us to get ready. The "extra" room downstairs was an added bonus for us to have some extra hangout space. Great location as well!

Great spot for Family gathering

Our family stayed here for a wedding in the area. The house has plenty of space for people to spread out and visit. Having 3 full bathrooms helped get 10 people ready quickly to go to the wedding. The kitchen is well stocked. And she provides plenty of paper products for your use while there. Jessica sent a list of suggested things to bring which was helpful.

Wonderful property!

The property is lovely and overlooks the river just as it opens into Lake Tainter. It's a short walk to the dock where there are kayaks available. The kitchen is well-stocked, the outdoor patio and fire pit are lovely, and the check out list is just a few things one would normally do anyway (close and lock windows, strip beds) rather than a long list that makes you wonder why you paid a cleaning fee. ;-) They're very easy to work with and anything we needed was very quickly answered. Don't hesitate...unless it's when we'd like to stay again!
