The hotel needs serious upgrade, you don’t want to step on those carpets without shoes. The door frames are all dented, doors are bad too, the tub in the shower is so slippery and outdated, the bathroom door it was “upgraded” to a barn door that warps when you close it, window curtains are dusty and old, ah and the water when you shower won’t drain, and let’s not talk about the mattresses, they feel and look 20 years old. One will think it was bad luck with the room but no, we had 3 rooms for the family and all the same. But the location is great ! So for the price I would look somewhere else.

The room we were downgraded to included a double bed. The double bed was super uncomfortable, likely an ikea bed frame. They are counting on rooftop sales and everything else is low quality.

Nostalgic property with little comfort. Rooms are much smaller than the pictures portray. Very cute and clean. Roof top lounge is ok. Lobby small with limited seating. Bathroom is not convenient to get ready. Great location for zoo goers. I have no regrets as it met my needs but I would not return.

Great location! I wish parking was included, or that there was an option to pay for the valet parking through Expedia. Staff was friendly and everything was clean, but the building is a bit old.

Very dated hotel. Cannot understand the 4-star rating, it is literally falling apart. Was told by a local that this used to be a “transient” hotel, and it seems it’s not changed much since those days. Smelly, broken things in the room, and just generally has not gotten “much love” at all. Also, there was some construction right above us that started at 6am

This was our second visit to this hotel. We booked it the second time because we found the suite room to be perfect for our stay. When we arrived, we were told the suite wasn't available and we were put in a much smaller room. The staff was extremely courteous and offered a beverage credit for not having the room we booked but only after I inquired whether or not there was a price difference in the rooms. The new room was newly renovated and perfectly fine for one night. It simply wasn't what we paid for.

I wasn’t happy with the additional $15 per day “destination “ fee the hotel charges. When I booked through Expedia, I chose the hotel based on the price I was quoted. I paid in full prior to arriving so did not appreciate the additional fees.

The hotels is in terrible condition. They forgot to clean my room three of the nights that I stayed there. The staff was very accommodating after I complained, but the issue was repeated the following day. The bathtub was dripping water all night and I couldn’t shower the morning I had to leave because it was full of water.

There are better properties in Chicago to stay at for the money. The rooms are tired and in need of a refresh. The bathrooms are small and a shelf covers half the sink making it difficult to use. The HVAC system is the worst you can’t regulate the temperature or the fan speed so you either need to wear earplugs or turn it off. Unacceptable for the price.

Stayed in a large, wheelchair accessible room, with a wide and very comfortable bed, a desk and a chair and a big sofa. In general the facilities in the room and in the bathroom were excellent (though there was no refrigerator and the safe for valuables didn’t work). All in all, my wife and I were highly satisfied with the hotel and would gladly stay there again. I should add that the staff is friendly, polite, and. helpful

Staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed with our dog, which we've never done before. They were very welcoming, gave her a dog biscuit, and there was no pet fee. We enjoyed a walk in the park and along the lakefront in the morning. Walkable to shopping and dining in the Gold Coast, Old Town, and downtown. There's a restaurant/bar on the rooftop that's open late and a coffee shop attached to the lobby. I'm not sure if the hotel is non-smoking, but we did smell some cigarette smoking on the hallway, but not in our room.
