Refreshing getaway
The property was the perfect place to stay and relax after spending the days paddle boarding at Raystown Lake. Great rural setting to unwind and the kids loved fishing in the pond and swimming in the pool.

Peaceful home away from home
Our family loved the peaceful area at the homestead. Everything we checked out was within a half hour of it, so convenient! The kids loved the pool and play area!

Property owner repeatedly claimed we had more people staying at property than we booked it for.
House to accommodate 10 did not have enough furniture for 10. Beds too small for adults to share. Nice proPOerty, very clean, but we will not book again.

Thanks for your review. Our beds were as advertised. 4 Double & 2 singles. So sorry you were not satisfied with the accommodations. We did enjoy your visit. Perhaps the larger home would of been more to your liking..

Family Time
It is a great place to unwind and spend time reconnecting with each other. The pool was a huge hit on the hot days of summer. Two of my grandsons and their mom caught their first fish and everyone else fishing was also successful. There is algae on the pond but the fish are still biting. The quiet environment made relaxing both day and night a wonderful treat. Time around the fire was fun for us all. We started and ended our days on the relaxing porch. Pictures tend to make the rooms look larger but there were 10 of us and we had plenty of room.

Loved it!
We really enjoyed our stay! There were 4 couples and we had plenty of space. We enjoyed a peaceful stroll down the country road, a chat by the campfire and a swim in the pool. It was like stepping back in time as we enjoyed all the memories of history in the home. We enjoyed dinner together around the big table and then relaxed on the rocking chairs on the front porch. A great place for a country get-a-way!

Photos need updated, very deceiving, could not do/use areas that were pictured, only con was the poo
Pros-pool was great, that's it ~ cons- could not use pavilion area, picnic table old, filthy, splinters, could not use smoker or grill, had to buy a grill at a local store, had to borrow weed Wacker to be able to sit on benchs around fire pit, had to purchase firewood, properties wood was thrown in a pile with tall weeds growing out, could not fish, pond full of algae, kids could not use swing set, old, filthy, splinters, downstairs beautiful claw foot tub, dirty ~ kitchen needs large pot for pasta,, kitchen sink needs replaced,, new photos need to be taken & omit Pavillion area & swings ~ property needs updating, not at all what we were expecting

Connie, thank you for your review. So sorry it did not come up to your expectations .The extra number of persons crowded into our home was not the same number rented through VRBO.. A wonderful retreat in the country!
My family had a wonderful time staying at the Lane Homestead. They offered the very best in hospitality and communicated all the needed information in a timely and comprehensive way. I highly recommend this VRBO.

Great family time by the pool
We were a group of nine. Since the property comes with only six beds, we brought some cots. The house was rustig and comfortable, with good climate contol due to mini splits. Internet worked fine, and kitchen was great for cooking all our meals along with the grills provided. The outdoors were the best part and we spent most of the time on the porch or pool. We didn’t appreciate how remote it was when we booked- but it’s 35 minutes to the nearest supermarket, and an hour from the PA turnpike. The owner was lovely and graceful. The bathroom door upstairs was a challenge, but just a nit. Thanks for the great time!

Family Recharge
Lane’s Country Homestead was the perfect place to slow down and have fun as a family. My husband and I wanted to visit Raystown Lake and spend time with our growing kids (16 and 12). Lydia provides the perfect place with everything you need. The property is close to boat launches and rentals, state parks, and area attractions, and it’s a comfortable, quiet place to rest. We enjoyed watching wildlife from the porch. It was our favorite place to begin and end each day during our stay. We can’t wait to visit Again!

Lydia's Pine Lodge
We initially booked Lane Homestead but before travelling, Lydia mentioned the Pine lodge as being available also. When we arrived we looked at both houses and chose to go with the Pine Lodge. This review is about the Pine lodge. The lodge is large and rustic. The sliding door and window look out onto a grassy field and mountains. This view with a cup of coffee was the highlight of our mornings. We extensively used the fire pit and enjoyed the lovely Christmas lights. The bedrooms were neat and simple. We had a range of ages staying, some people enjoyed the beds and it didn't work out for some. The interior fireplace was not functional during our visit. But we were ok with that. Lydia and her family were extremely hospitable, providing us with firewood, and a tractor ride for the kids.

Just for the record ,the Pine Lodge is not usually available due to regular rental persons ,who rent weekly ,annually. We had cancellation for that particular time frame due to family covid-19 & that made it open & available Thanks again. Lydia & family

Enjoyable Stay
Overall a really relaxing and pleasant stay. Enjoyed exploring the property and it was close to Trough Creek State Park, Lincoln Caverns, and an Alpaca Farm -- all fun, family activities. My only criticism is that there wasn't a paddle boat for the pond. No biggie but not as listed. I would remove the single bed from the loft, not enough room between bed and low railings on the sides.

A much-needed escape
Such a nice break for our family. We swam in the pool, explored the property, read and relaxed on the huge front porch, and took advantage of nearby Lake Raystown for a beautiful morning on the water. Very peaceful and very remote - just what we were looking for.

Quiet Country Setting
The quiet country setting was perfect for our get away. The home was full of charm, and the pool was a great asset. Lydia was very sweet and made us feel at home. However, be advised that there is only one pond and no peddle boat. Also, the golf course is no longer in use.

Country living
The property was just like the pics & description. Quiet and quaint, with everything you need without the frills. We enjoyed the swimming pool, pond and grill when we were there. We also were near Raystown Lake and Trough Creek State Park where we enjoyed hiking, kayaking and renting Jet Skis.

Simple and quiet property with all you need on the farm
Was an amazing time! The kids LOVED fishing the pond, enjoying late nights by the fire pit and swimming in the pool. Will certainly be returning and already shared this house with 2 families who should be booking also!

Family get away
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful, peaceful setting. Enjoyed the pool, pond, campfire, and just relaxing with grandchildren and family. Nearby Raystown was gorgeous with nice beaches for children and wonderful boating and fishing.. Lydia was very helpful and response.

Quaint house in the country
We really enjoyed our stay at this house! The property was lovely- out in the country, overlooking a pond. I wish we’d had time to explore the countryside, but we were there for a football game and couldn’t fully enjoy the area. The house itself looked like something out of the pages of Country Living magazine- obviously an older homestead but it was clean, fresh, and beautifully decorated. Lydia the owner was very helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend this rental to anyone wanting a relaxing stay in a rural setting.
