Perfect sunset views on Lake Carlos

Only 2 hours from the Cities, this lake home is eclectic, spacious and has stunning views of the sunset on clear nights! Because our family has owned this property for over 20 years it is a quirky layout of lake-love, craftiness, history-lovin, live-your-best-life kind of home. What's not to love?!

We want to share this beauty with you and yours because it has meant so much to our family over the years and it has so much to offer: 3 decks to gather on; a beautiful and funky garden; private dock and swim area; easy parking; and tons of birds and other wildlife.

FALL! Come for the colors and for the Grape Stomp at the Carlos Creek Winery. Come for the cool nights without bugs. Come for it all!

WINTER! We are 1/2 mile from Sate Park snowmobile trails and more. Ice-fishing on this lake is best early in the season; XC skiing in the State Park or just down the steps onto the lake is amazing;

Deets are below, but we are happy to answer any and all questions if you want to contact us directly. Please first read this lovely list:

The kitchen: Refrigerator/freezer, oven, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, dishes (plates, bowls, glassware, coffee mugs), cooking pots, slow cooker, air-fryer, and baking dishes, island with elec outlets and plenty of room for food prep and/or entertaining.

The living room: Smart TV, giant couch, elec outlets throughout.

Sun Room: closing french doors for privacy, pullout couch

Dining Area: dining table with 4 chairs, 3 chairs at the kitchen island

Bathroom: sunlight ceiling, shower/bath combo, large vanity mirror

Bedrooms: queen bed (in both), bedside tables, outlets, sizable closets

Laundry: small washer and dryer, addt'l clothesline outside

Great little cabin

We have now stayed at this property twice and thoroughly enjoyed both visits. It's a very private yard with a nice, sand bottom swimming area by the dock. The home is cozy and perfect for one or two families. We hope to be back soon!

Nice place

Nice yard and parking for boat trailer. Cabin is roomier then expected with big couch and dining area. Needs some maintenance but didn't impact our stay. Access to lake is limited with "natural" shoreline but overall nice frontage. Love the pet friendly but would remove carpet in BR. Like to grill is summer so not having a gas grill was a bummer but had a great time!

Lovely Lake Home

We love this home. The house is so welcoming and comfortable. The floral gardens and yard are beautiful! We so appreciated the dock and natural shoreline. Inside, we all had our own peaceful space and a wonderful gathering space in the open kitchen, dining room, living room area. With the Lake on one side and State Park across the road the beautiful dog walks were my personal favorite. We definitely want to come back to this Vrbo next year and beyond.

Nice peaceful lake house to relax

Overall we enjoyed our stay, it was very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The sunsets are great as promised in listing, some trees could use a trim for a better view of sunset. The house was very nice, There were a couple of mechanical issues, the stove had quit working before we arrived, the owner had supplied a hot plate and toaster oven to help minimize the inconvenience, and the air conditioning quit working on our last evening there luckily the weather had cooled down so we could leave the windows open.

Carlos Sunset Views

The cabin is nicely appointed with great sunset views from the comfy porch facing the lake. Unfortunately, the kitchen had not been cleaned with splatters on the stove, fridge and cabinet and the oven and oven drawer were filthy. It is too nice of a cabin to have poor housekeeping. Would highly recommend the cabin with an improvement in the housekeeping.

Cute, spacious cabin

It's a spacious, well-kept place for a two-bedroom, one-bath cabin. The sunset views are truly amazing! The area around the dock is sand bottom and mostly weed-free to great for swimming. And having Hang Loose next door is great because ice is always easily accessible.

Great property with beautiful view

My wife and I stayed for 6 nights to visit some family in the area and do some fishing. Great property and everything was as listed. Clean and very comfortable! The owner was great as we wanted to stay an extra day and she was very flexible in accommodating. We would definitely stay again!

4th of July Trip

We enjoyed our stay at Lake Carlos! Great communication, easy check-in. Lots of room for our family of 5 to spread out. Good fishing off the dock and just hanging out on the deck. Has plenty of everything to make it feel like home. Loved the location as we rented a pontoon for a couple days from the marina next door.

Cabin on Lake Carlos

Overall, we had a great stay and would stay here again. The check-in process was easy, Kelly was very responsive and easy to work with. The cabin location is great. It's right next to the marina and has a dock for water access. We were originally trying to find something close to Alexandria and this was a perfect match. We loved sitting on the deck in the morning and watching the lake. There are several outdoor spaces around the property to sit for lots of options. It's a cabin that is well established so there are a few signs of aging. For example: hard water deposits on faucets. None of this would prevent us from staying here again.

Comfortable, very "lived in" cabin

This cabin definitely feels like the owners use it, which we really appreciated and liked in that it was well-stocked with odds and ends. It's not very clean, which is something to probably be aware of depending on the type of renter you are. It was definitely vacuumed, wiped down, but it's more like it needs a deep clean (shower liner was moldy, vents were dirty, and there was a little bit too much random stuff in the cabinets like an old toothbrush). But honestly, as a family of 5 with a dog and 3 kids we appreciated that it was comfortable and felt more like someone's home. The location is great- we loved being right next to the marina and rented a boat there. The dock is great and the decks on the cabin are fabulous. We also loved that we could bring our dog. I wish it had an outdoor grill but we did bring skewers and roasted hot dogs over the fire pit. It doesn't have a beach area but the swimming area by the dock is shallow and clean. We might just be rookies but I would recommend water shoes, though because even though the bottom of the lake seemed super sandy/soft, 3 of us ended up getting cuts on our feet. Overall we had a nice time here and appreciated the amenities such as laundry, dishwasher, and games/puzzles on the property. The owner was also really responsive when we had questions.
