Fint deluxerum, god frukost. Service vid middag en besvikelse, en av oss fick fel rätt, hantering i samband med detta ej godtagbar. Frågade vid ankomst om vinprovning och fick tidsangivelse, till vår stora förtret visade sig att provningen stängt den angivna tiden. Absolut inte femstjärnig upplevelse och på långt när inte värt det höga priset.

Some renovations are needed
Overall, the property is nice and staff are very friendly making sure your stay is enjoyable and comfortable. It is a perfect venue for weddings or special occasions. The property is listed as a 5-star hotel. Our room, however, had the entire backwall with peeling paint in the bathroom which suggest previous water damage that has not been fixed. This is rather unacceptable for a hotel rated at 5-stars with a nightly rate of more than $400/night. Hence, our lower rating.

Alles in allem ein tolles Hotel, das aber ganz aktuell immer noch unter Renovierungsarbeiten steht, die zum Buchungszeitpunkt leider nicht vorab kommuniziert wurden. So war selbst das Begrüßungsschreiben auf dem Zimmer nicht auf aktuellem Stand. Das Fine Dining Restaurant Raphael’s war noch nicht eröffnet (steht aber kurz bevor!), das Essen der Sansibar wurde aber bereits in den Räumlichkeiten serviert, ebenso das Frühstück (im Begrüßungsschreiben war noch von der Hotellobby die Rede… wir sind froh, dass uns das erspart blieb). Bei einem 5* Haus hätten wir einen eigenen Spa Bereich erwartet, es gibt jedoch nur einen Raum in dem Behandlungen stattfinden (und Behandler von extern kommen). Außerdem können wir in Zeiten des Load Shedding nicht nachvollziehen, dass bei Betreten des Zimmers nach dem Housekeeping das Licht im Zimmer brannte und dass die Handtücher selbst dann komplett getauscht wurden, wenn sie ordentlich aufgehängt wurden - denn ein Schild wies explizit auf den Wunsch zum Wassersparen hin. Auf den Zimmern könnten kleine Details verbessert werden: das Informationsheft war fleckig und abgenutzt, die Vorhänge hatten bereits ein Loch. Service in Bar und beim Frühstück sowie die Qualität der Speisen war hervorragend, das lässt für das Raphael‘s hoffen. Der Ausblick von der Terrasse über Weinhänge und Berge ist einmalig!

An amazing hotel. Great location. Superb staff and service. Excellent food. Room amenities great except bath towels too small, no bath salts or bubble bath yet a massive bath. Drain blocked in shower on first night. Moved to inferior room for one night. Shower fixed and we could move back to our luxurious room. Unfortunately at check out management decided not to refund me for part of cost for staying in an inferior room for one night to what was booked.

We stayed for one night. Hotel and surrounds beautiful, very peaceful. A few small improvements like bathroom, drains blocked and would prefer 2 ply toilet paper. Our bath robes had holes in them, pillows were not comfortable at all and TV channels faulty.

Beautiful hotel with high service level. The staff is very welcoming, restaurants are serving amazing food for lunch, dinner and breakfast (one of the best I ever had!). Price value is fantastic overall. The rooms are clean, nicely designed and there’s nothing to complain... in detail there could be some cosmetics done.

Not as good as last year
We visited last year and regretfully there has been some overall reduction in atmosphere and attention to detail. Room was excellent. Dining was mixed in respect that food remained excellent, waiting on tables and provisions like cutlery and breakfast buffet had dropped except for one lady , sorry cannot recall her name, who appeared to be in charge in main restaurant; she was very good and definitely knew what she was doing. The bar provision was poor. I like gin and my first 4 choices although listed were not available.. and they were not rare ones. Sad to see the drop. However still serene and tranquil place.

Decepção enorme
Embora tenha sido a estadia em que mais investimos na viagem, foi de longe a mais decepcionante. A vinícola é bonita, mas o quarto em si não é nada demais. Não é moderno, não é especialmente bonito ou algo que justifique o preço cobrado. O banheiro fica na parte de cima, o que na prática é bem incômodo pois a pessoa tem que subir e descer toda hora, inclusive no meio da noite (o que tbm não é seguro, já que a escada é grande e em espiral). Aderimos ao jantar do ano novo, que pareceu uma piada de péssimo gosto. O valor cobrado foi bem expressivo, mas os pratos eram rídiculos, saí com fome. E o pior, não tinha qualquer vinho incluído. Enquanto me arrumava para o jantar, tentei utilizar um espelho de maquiagem que estava disponível no banheiro, mas que quebrou na minha mão. Por sorte, não me cortei. Para finalizar a experiência, no momento do check out pedimos cinco minutos a mais já que devido ao jantar de ano novo no dia anterior, tínhamos dormido muito tarde. A resposta foi curta: "não". Lamentável. Saímos imensamente insatisfeitos.

Great place with great views
Absolutely loved pretty much everything about this place. The staff was super friendly and accomodating. The room was great. Very spacious, comfortable, clean, plenty of space to put clothes away (big closets). The bathroom is massive with seperate shower and bath. One of the 2 showerheads wasn't working very well, but it didn't bother us as we used the other one. The hotel pool is not very big but a good size to cool down in the summer heat. The water isn't heated so it is not very warm. The hotel has 2 restaurants but the more fancy one is only open seasonally. If I could give one point of critique, it is that the hotel bar closes rather early at 10PM. It would be nice if it was open later in the evening. There is a lot of security at the hotel, starting at the entrance gate all the way to the hotel parking lot. They also patrol at night with dogs. This makes for a very safe feeling, although there are signs all over the hotel rooms urging guests to lock all items of value in the room safe. The hotel also has a wine tasting room but it is not as nice as some of the others in the region. Overal I would highly recommend this hotel if you are exploring the West Cape area or visiting one or more wine houses in the Stellenbosch area

Very nice comfortable room in stunning location
Lovely if brief stay at Asara - nice big comfortable room overlooking the lake. Huge selection at the buffet breakfast. Nice walks through the vineyards with stunning views. We had a very enjoyable meal at Sansibar with delicious gin cocktails. The complimentary wine tasting was great fun too! All staff were welcoming and helpful. Special thanks for Serge for fixing the number plate that had fallen off our hire car!

Tudo muito bom no hotel, exceto no dia do meu check in, no qual fui atendido por uma péssima funcionária, bastante antipática. Estava com dificuldade de entender o inglês dessa funcionária do check in e pedi a ela para falar mais devagar e ela me olhava com um cara de superioridade e continuava a falar rápido sem me dar a atenção, e fazia questão de olhar nos meus olhos para demonstrar seu desprezo com minha solicitação. Foi muito desagradável.

We liked everything about the property. Morning walk through the Vineyards, Beautiful view from our Balcony. Nice food and drink at the Pub/Lounge (limited menu, well prepared!) Excellent take-away breakfast prepared for our morning drive back to Capetown. A pleasant surprise!
