We arrived at 6pm, and were told that our room would be "ready soon." We ended up getting room with a King bed and blow up cot with a view of the parking garage, instead of the double queen with lake view we had reserved. The room wasn't ready till 10pm, although we had reserved in advance, and then the cot had to be replaced at 11pm because it deflated. The room service was completely understaffed, so the engineering and security people were required to deliver the cots...and we were the ones who had to make the cot ourselves (twice). The staff was all stretched to the limit, busy doing the work of two people (at least)--but it seems like it was the hotel's POLICY to accept reservations they couldn't accommodate, because I overheard the manager giving the same story to another family the next night: "Oh, sorry, the room isn't ready yet, we can hold your luggage, hopefully it will be ready soon" The manager WAS apologetic when I complained the next morning, and refunded the cost of the first night and the "resort fee"--but they should never have charged a resort fee because their hotel has no "resort" features in the winter--their pool and hot tub are empty for renovations, and the rest of their special guest services are for summer enjoyment only. I hope that their staff unionizes quick, so they can stop doing the job of multiple people.
