A 44 acre private property crowning the top of a hill with fabulous views onto mountains and valleys Providence is a nature lovers retreat.
This spring 2024 we have 3 new furry babies: 2 gorgeous British Longhair kittens and a bouvier bernois (Bernese Mountain) dog puppy. So if you come here please allocate some time for cuddles and feeding, if we are not here.
Unfortunately our home is not suitable for young children because of the pond which is not protected. We are vegetarian and ask that you do not cook meat on the property, this is a smoke free domain and we only accept exchanges of at least one week.
We live in one side of the house and offer exchanges in the other side so we may or may not be here during your exchange. We also have domestic help, if you need to hire her just let us know, and a gardener. If being completely "alone" on the property is important to you, then please say so in your request. It is possible to organise.
Location, Location, Location!
We are only 2kms to the village and river, 10kms to Pamiers town and 60kms to Toulouse and high mountains. Toulouse International Airport (Blagnac) is less than an hour, just over an hour from the Mediterranean and 3hours from the Atlantic (Biarritz). It is very convenient for visiting the amazing places in this world class area (Toulouse, Carcassonne, Foix, Mirepoix, Pyrenees, Renne le Chateau, markets too with great local organic produce!....) and then come home to a private retreat with gorgeous views, space, amazing centuries old oak trees and swimming pool in summer. Providence is ideal for yoga, tai chi, meditation and the sunrises and sunsets are superb! All the rooms have amazing views.
The air and our water are (relatively) pure and there is a superb micro-climate here. Our closest neighbours cannot be seen or heard even though they are wonderful people who live most of the time in the UK.
This old renovated farmhouse consists of four parts, one where we the owners live, the "West Wing" that we let out for retreats, personal development courses, guests or exchanges and two independent studios at the back that are currently not occupied, but that can change.
We have badminton racquets and internet for keeping in touch and planning those long days out exploring. The nearest supermarket is only ten minutes drive away in the town of Pamiers.
There is an eat-in gourmet kitchen which is great when you have picked up all those special "French" delicacies and local organic produce from the markets and enjoy leisurely meals on the terrace or under the trees near the pool.
For sports lovers the "Tour de France" comes very close to us every year. Canoeing can be done on the river ten minutes away in July/August and with the sea/ocean and mountains nearby there are so many activities, including golf, to choose from.
Unwind from the rat race, read a book, contemplate the beauty of nature which is so very present and alive. Fall asleep to the song of the nightingales, toads or the hoot of the owls and so many other varieties of birds including the big buzzards that soar and swoop around us.
We love our "little piece of Paradise" and everyone who comes here does too! We are happy to offer hospitality stays too for less points, and a minimum of 5 nights.
What you will love about this neighborhood
Our neighbourhood is rural with no neighbours in sight yet we are only 1.5kms easy walk down a gentle hill into the village of Bonnac where there is a little private café (not always open) and the river where you can walk and canoe in summer in safe guided groups. We have walks in the surrounding forest and within easy drive are charming arty hilltop villages such as Carla Bayle. Pamiers our nearest town is 10km and an easy 10-15minute drive. There are many medieval churches, castles and in the summer there are lots of concerts, festivals, and medieval shows.

Providence is a well renovated nature lovers retreat in an ancient oak forest in the heart of "Cathar country." We are 45minutes from Toulouse and 60mins to Carcassonne, Andorra, and the mountains. The Mediterranean sea is 90mins away.
