Sunset View on Otter Tail Lake / Cozy Retreat

Beautiful retreat with lake views from almost every room! Easy entertaining with full kitchen amenities on main floor and lower level kitchenette and wet bar. Keep cooking simple on the gas grill and eat outside at the full dining area on the upper patio! Great for families! One upstairs open entertainment area boasts a floor to ceiling gas stone fireplace accented by a wall of windows lakeside. The cozy downstairs gathering area has a wood burning fireplace, game table, and workout equipment with walk-out easy lake access. Both areas have high quality Samsung smart TVs. This homey retreat is climate controlled for comfort in EVERY season. Share a cup of coffee on the inviting front patio in the morning sun. French doors lead to a stunning sunroom with windows on 3 sides! Access to 100' of lakeshore offers the opportunity to swim, paddleboard or fish in the water right off the dock during the summer or ice skate, snowshoe or cross country ski in the winter and enjoy an evening making memories (and s'mores!) around a firepit all year round. Relax in one of 2 bedrooms on the main level or choose one of the cozy bedrooms downstairs. There is plenty of room to be all together or find your own little nook to read, listen to music or unwind.

This lakehome is BIG on lake hospitality conveniently located close to Ottertail City, Battle Lake, Perham, Fergus Falls each with great little shops, coffee and ice cream spots and restaurants. Zorbaz on the Lake and Beach Bums with live music throughout the summer are popular spots on Ottertail Lake. Golfing at Balmoral or Thumper Pond is another fun activity-both within a 10 minute drive. Easy access off Highway 78 and within a short driving distance to two State Parks-Glendalough and Maplewood-that offer hiking, walking and biking trails. Also near the Ottertail River-known for its lazy afternoon tubing.

There is an optional electric boat lift (max capacity 3100 lbs) for those who choose to bring their own boat. Public boat launch is only minutes away. We also have information from several partners about renting a boat/pontoon/wave runner/kayak for an afternoon, day or your entire stay!

Our aim is to provide a cozy lake home away from home and the crazy and chaotic world, to gather and create lasting memories and traditions with the people you love. We truly want to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as we possibly can. For 2025, we are offering Friday check out days only! **The 4th of July will be an exception, we will offer Sat/Sun checkout.

Summer Sunsets

Lots of space to relax

Property was beautiful and well maintained. We liked the space where everyone could relax. The sunroom was our favorite. The driveway was a little tricky with a boat and trailer but other than that this is a perfect place for a family getaway.

Everything that we could possibly need was provided. We had beautiful weather! The beach toys were used by our grandkids. We sat on the dock, and the patio, and loved the beautiful sunsets. We all want to come back next year!!!

Creating family legacy

My family came to stay at Tara's beautiful home for the second year in a row - and it was wonderful. I grew up coming to this very lake as a kid and we decided to reconnect to honor my mom after passing in 2021, as this was her favorite place to be. Tara was such a gracious and thoughtful host! She communication was quick and helpful and the home is well appointed for all ages. The kids loved having the floaties and paddle board, and the adults enjoyed all the outdoor spaces and versatile gathering spaces inside. We love our time here and are hopeful to make this a new family tradition!

Highly Recommend!

We enjoyed our trip to Otter Tail Lake! The house was the perfect size for our family gathering. Communication with Tara was fantastic. She warned us about the potential for Swimmer’s Itch based on the guest before us, and gave us tips to try and avoid it. Fortunately, we did not experience any issues and all kids and adults spent time in the lake. The home was clean and comfortable. Just as described! The owners provided firewood and many other extras, such as lake floaties and yard games. Great stay!

Family Lake vacation

Nice and roomy house with beautiful lake views. Difficult to maneuver boat/pontoon trailers in driveway and frontage road. Beach would have been decent but swimmers itch from day one prevented use of it.

Something for everyone

Great spaces, upstairs or downstairs there is room for everyone to enjoy their time together or doing their own thing. The lakeshore had room for all too. We had two boats at the dock and that worked great also. The only problem was parking the boat trailers, not enough space to turn around or park. Luckily the neighbors weren't home.

Summer Fun!

Beautiful home on a gorgeous landscaped lot. Our party of 10 enjoyed our stay there & highly recommend you consider this home for your getaway. We had everything we needed & then some! Tara pleasant to work with & the welcome gift a nice attention to detail we appreciated! The backyard is spacious for outdoor games or just enjoying a bonfire! Plus a lovely place to watch the sunsets!

Perfection on the water

The house was spacious, clean and perfect for our week long stay. The yard was great, lake toys were a bonus. The view of the lake from the windows was beautiful. The beds were comfortable, we loved sitting in the sunroom. Plenty of parking, the road is too tight to turn a boat around in unless you are a master at it but the public boat launch is about 3 miles away and a really nice launch. Truck and empty trailer for fine at the house. Tara was amazing to work with, friendly, kind and prompt to return messages. She went above and beyond to help us out when our boat broke down on day 2 of 7. I would highly recommend this stay to anyone.

High-end comfort with all the amenities and first class owner-management!

The lake house and our experience renting this property was about perfect! We had the best time! The lake house is beautiful, as well as clean, spacious, and comfortable. We were in the water every day - on the paddle board or floaties provided. Or we just relaxed on the dock during the day and by the firepit at night. My dad brought his boat and put it in at the public landing down the road. The use of the lift made it so easy. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed to make meals together. Town was just a hop skip away to go get a pie and some minnows for fishing! The check in and check out process was simple but thorough and secure. Tara, the owner, is absolutely lovely and went out of her way to welcome my family and me here. This lake house and our experience here are the best of what VRBO has to offer! Thank you, Tara. We will always be so grateful for the wonderful memories we made here as a family!

This is a wonderful property: large, clean, well-maintained, great yard. The owner had a welcome gift and was easy to communicate with. We enjoyed family time playing games, relaxing outside, going to the state park, to Battle Lake, and to Perham. Tiny note to future guests, bring your own shower gel/soap & shampoo.

Beautiful

We had such a great time!! We are from NJ and met with our MN family for a few days. The lake was amazing and the house was soooo nice. Was a little chilly but we managed to tube, jet ski, paddleboard and fish. Had a blast!!!
