★ OTHER THINGS TO NOTE ★
Please note that this log cabin is 170-years-old. It's been well-cared for and offers plenty of cozy charm but does have characteristics of a historic home such as bumpy flooring, uneven stairs, and the occasional draft if it's cold and windy outside. In the winter the house is heated by the gas fireplace and electric space heaters so this may not be the best fit for guests who have balance issues or unsupervised children. In addition, we are located in the woods, the property is treated but there is a good chance you might see a bug or two in the warmer seasons!

Enjoyed our peaceful stay.Located between terrific catch-your-own trout farm and Grandfather Winery. From description, was hoping to access/walk along riverbank but could not.Host Shelley was very responsive.
Wonderful 1848 cabin with log walls and wood floors, a little crooked but remember when it was built. Everything updated inside in kitchen, bathrooms and comfortable furniture. Lots of dishes, pots/ pans etc for cooking. We spent our early mornings and evenings on the swing on the screened in porch and enjoying visits with the deer and rabbits. The location was great for everything and every place we wanted to visit. Great trout pond for fishing in walking distance of the cabin. They will clean and filet your catch. We baked them and they were delicious. We have rented many cabins/ homes through vrbo but this was the most interesting and historical. We loved it and Shelley was a great host.
Excellent location!! The property is absolutely charming and is every thing you could want from 170 year old log cabin. So close to Grandfather Mountain. We loved sitting by the gas fireplace. The screened in porch was an excellent place to eat dinner. Had an issue with streaming services on the TV but the host responded immediately and worked with us to get the matter resolved so we could watch our favorite shows after exploring Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk. Would definitely stay again!
Such a cozy place to stay! The perfect place to come back to after exploring the mountains. Loved the screened in porch and fire pit in the back. Would definitely come back again!
Loved the cabin and appreciate the care that it takes to keep up such a piece of history. It was per the description, clean, cozy, rustic, adequate. I would stay here again.
The cabin the adorable they weather was so cold it caused a few issues. This charming little home has so much character and great views of Grandfather Mountain. The hosts were very helpful and communicated appropriately. Such a great week celebrating my hubby's birthday while visiting our boys in college. Go Appalachian Mountaneers and Lees-McRae Bobcats.Love our NC Mountains
We really enjoyed our stay in this historic cabin and checking out the activities, sites, and scenery in the area. The cabin was a cozy place to return to at the end of each day.
The cabin is cozy and we especially liked the location. Convenient to the highway but back in the trees enough to make it seem we were in the woods. Also enjoyed the screened back porch and the fire pit.
