Sandy Bottoms - Beautiful Ibis Roost home!

Sandy Bottoms is a 1500 sq foot cottage in the Ibis Roost community. The Ibis Roost neighborhood is made up of 29 cottages on quiet lanes off of the main Wynds of the island - perfect for biking and walking even with little ones! Sandy Bottoms is directly across from the shared community pool.

This cottage features three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Downstairs, you will find a king master bedroom with ensuite bathroom. The second main floor bedroom features a queen bed with a full bath just across the hall. The main living area room is open concept to the dining room with plenty of comfy seating and space to spread out. The dining table seats eight and can be extended to seat ten. Attached to the living area is a sun-room featuring a daybed for an extra sleeping space, as well as an additional table and chairs - perfect for game nights, puzzles or a kids' dining area.

The galley kitchen is small but mighty - and totally renovated in 2021 with brand new appliances and cabinetry. Here you will find everything you need to feel right at home - a brand new coffee station that brews ground coffee as well as K-Cups, a large air-fryer/toaster oven, filtered water and ice in the fridge as well as an Instant Pot so dinner will be ready when you arrive home from the beach.

The upstairs enclosed loft area is the perfect space for kids and teens, or even for a small family to share. The bedroom features both a queen bed and twin over twin bunk beds. Right down the hall, you will find a large closet as well as a private full bath.

New LVP floors were installed in 2021 throughout the home. All bedrooms as well as the living room are equipped with brand new Roku televisions.

You will enjoy the sounds of the Maritime Forest with ample outdoor space. Curl up on a comfy sofa on the screened in porch with your favorite beach read or relax in the hammock on the large wraparound porch while the kiddos bike around the neighborhood.

Lifestyle Membership at Bald Head Island Club and Shoal's Club membership may be purchased directly through the clubs.

Additionally, the Bald Head Island ferry system is independently operated and not affiliated with BHI Vacations. To ensure a smooth arrival and departure, we encourage guests to book ferry and tram reservations well in advance.

Great location and nice pool

The location is great and convenient to everything. The pool is very well kept and enjoyable. The house is laid out well. The bedrooms are a good size. The screen porch and extra sunporch room are really nice. The house was not completely cleaned and some of the furniture, etc. is in need of repair and/or a good cleaning. We were told that the 6 person golf cart may have some temporary issues, but it worked well for us. The 4 person cart, however was slow with a very dim light for driving at night and needs some tlc.

Loved this spot.

Bald Head is a great vacation spot. We had never stayed in this area on Bald Head before and it may be our favorite so far. Easy to get to south beach or east beach and minutes from the market and shopping. Kids loved it because they could easily ride bikes places. And bikes provided by owner were in great shape. Also loved the house. It’s not huge, but every space is used to maximize the room. Plenty of places to sleep. It was very helpful that the spices and condiments were left in fridge and pantry too. And, we were a little skeptical that the filtered fridge water could replace buying bottled water, but brought refillable bottles to try it out. And out of the filter the water did taste great so we never bought any bottled water during the trip. Great vacation and recommend this spot. Owners were very responsive and would definitely rent from them again.

Return summer vacation to BHI

We had another amazing visit to BHI and enjoyed out stay at this home. It was a perfect location- mid island - to the market- marina area or beaches. They had boogie boards for our girls to use, beach towels, etc.. Would definitely return here again for next summer.

Enjoyed Sandy Bottoms

Our family enjoyed our stay at Sandy Bottoms. The home was stocked with everything we needed. The pantry had spices, oils, aluminum foil, and plastic wrap. My children enjoyed the bikes. We had a family of 6, so having two golf carts was nice. The location in the Maritime Forest is great for the shade and mid-island location. The Wifi worked well, so my husband and I could work when necessary. We bought a guest pass to the Bald Head Island Club, which we enjoyed more than we thought we would. The kids loved the water slides and splash pad and my husband and I enjoyed the exercise room. We will definitely return!

Great place!

I told my husband several times that this was my favorite rental we’ve ever had, of anywhere we’ve gone! The owners have thought of everything you could need and it was so well stocked. Not having to bring any beach gear or toys made for easy packing, and they had all the baby gear I needed for our one year old. The newly renovated home was so beautiful and clean. The owner was so sweet and quick to respond to my one question! Highly recommend!

Great place, Great location

We had the best time at Sandy Bottoms! The house was cozy but with plenty of room for 5 adults to all be comfortable! The front porch with the hammocks was such a great relaxing area and much time was spent there. The house location was perfect , not too far from the yacht basin with its shops and eateries and just minutes to the beach, the market and Jailhouse (breakfast/lunch/dinner spot)! Laura was the a very thoughtful host and responsive to our questions. Would highly recommend staying here to friends and family!

Everything We Could Possibly Ask for in a Summer Rental!

We loved our weeklong stay at Sandy Bottoms! From the first communication when booking the property 6 months ago, to emails and texts during our stay, owner Laura Riner, was very responsive and helpful, even forewarning us when dangerous riptides were forecast. There was a problem with the AC one day, and she reached out to us before we'd really figured out that the house wasn't cooling. The 'smart' thermostat had alerted her. She had HVAC technicians there within the hour and the system was up and running shortly thereafter. The house is charming and comfortable with a fully outfitted kitchen. Plus the pantry was loaded with staples likely left by previous renters. We never ran out of cooking oil, paper towels or popcorn! The Packn'Play crib, the highchair seat, and many kids' bikes, scooters, beach towels and sand toys were much appreciated and meant we had much less to lug over on the ferry. Another highlight was the community pool, mere feet from the house. We typically took the kids to the beach in the morning; then after their naps, we played in the very clean, well shaded and perfectly warmed pool until dinnertime. As an early riser, I loved making a cup of coffee and taking it out on the porch, watching the sun rise and listening to the birds chatter in the magical hour before time to make pancakes and wrangle babies into bathing suits! We hope to be back next year, it was absolutely glorious!

Excellent beach home

This property was so well equipped. The kitchen, although small met all our needs. Plenty of bikes for everyone. We used the shower at the pool to always rinse off before going to the house. The pool was just steps away and a lot of time we had it completely to ourselves. Laura was super nice and quick to resolve any problems. We hope to come back!!

Cozy and Convenient

The house was fantastic. Everything was so well thought out. The layout was extremely functional for us (3 adult couples and a 4-month old). Three bedrooms and 3 baths gave every one private space. The kitchen had every imaginable appliance and was stocked with oils, condiments, etc. All the cabinets were labeled which made for easy organizing. The living/dining area and porches gave us room to spread out. There were plenty of games inside and out that kept us busy at night (we got hooked on Bananagrams). The 2 golf carts and 4+ bikes made it easy for each couple to venture out whenever they wished. The location worked really well as it was close to the grocery store/restaurants and a short drive to the beach. Being situated across from the swimming pool let us continue our day outside as well as shower before returning to the house. Laura was great to work with - providing helpful advice and responding immediately to any questions we had. We had a great stay and highly recommend Sandy Bottoms!

Amazing spring break!

Perfect stay for spring break! Great house with lots of room and great location to everything. Teen room upstairs was the best - especially for the adults :). Private neighborhood pool was great bonus. Can’t wait to come back.

We had a great time staying at sandy bottoms! The house was clean and well stocked. The owner was great to work with and very responsive. Our kids loved the hammocks on the porch as well as the gaming systems upstairs. The six seater golf cart was the best 6 seater we’ve ever had! They are usually so slow! The bikes were also awesome! Home Away From Home

This place has it all...and it's even better than the pictures! The location on the island was ideal for us- perfectly situated across from the pool, a short golf cart ride to the beach, yet still private so we could do our own thing. We enjoyed riding bikes, reading in the hammocks and playing games into the late hours of the evening. Our youngest really enjoyed the craft supplies- That was a nice touch! Thank you for helping this to be a trip we will never forget- one that even brought out smiles and belly laughs from a sometimes surly teenager! ;) We look forward to planning our next trip to Sandy Bottoms!

Absolutely Fantastic

My family of 5 stayed here the last week of February. We had 2 adults and 3 kids ranging in age from 7-15. EVERYONE absolutely loved this house! This was our first stay on the island although we had made numerous day trips over the years. We couldn't have been happier with Sandy Bottoms. Its location was perfect, the neighborhood was quiet, and the house contained just about everything you could possibly need. The kitchen was exceptionally stocked. The owner was also very helpful and communicative and responded to my questions in a very prompt manner. We would love to stay here again. You should too!

This cottage is charming and beautiful and very clean and in a great location. The kitchen is perfectly equipped and we enjoyed family meals around the large table. We also really liked spending time on the front porch and back screened porch. The six person golf cart and the bicycles made our stay even better.
