mountain setting, especially when the area is covered in snow. It is tucked away but still right off the freeway, making it easy to access while still feeling surrounded by the mountains. The views are definitely one of the highlights of staying here.
The lodge has more of a rustic, old school cabin feel rather than a modern hotel experience. They use traditional keys instead of key cards, there is no 24 hour on site staff, and there is no room service. If you are expecting full hotel amenities or frequent attention, this may not be the right fit.
The fireplace in our room was not working, and the interior decor is dated, but clean. The room does include a space to cook, which is convenient. Television options were very limited, and DIRECTV service was hit or miss in the mountains. Any additional channels require extra payment.
When I did see staff, they were friendly and polite, but interaction was minimal overall. This place is better suited for guests who are comfortable being mostly self sufficient and are more focused on the location and scenery than amenities.
Overall, it is a solid three star stay. The biggest draw is the mountain setting, the cabin style atmosphere, and the peaceful surroundings. If you are looking for a quiet place with great views and do not need many services, this lodge can be a good option.
