This hotel is quite run down, clean in parts! But strong smell of sewage in family rooms, which where in attic! So not child friendly to say the least! Please read the reviews and avoid. All of the serving staff were lovely. But had not a nice experience with general manager/owner, very rude and unhelpful! Please avoid!

Great hotel in a lovely location with views to the beach. Room wasn’t huge but it was absolutely immaculately clean. We’re in Ayr regularly so will definitely be booking again.

Family overnight stay in Ayr
Overnight half term stay with our grandchildren,comfortable room with partial sea view,good food,excellent cooked to order breakfast,free parking in public car park in front of hotel.Close to children’s outdoor and indoor play area at Pirate Pete’s.Excellent value for money,would definitely stay again.

Great stay
We had a very comfortable stay. They put us in the honeymoon suite which was unexpected but much appreciated. Bathroom is small but room is very nice. Very good breakfast included. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great hotel comfortable and warm. Their car park is small but there is a massive free car park at the side of the hotel. I would suggest they don’t change towels every day unless requested

Terrible breakfast
Breakfast was terrible unfortunately. For the cooked breakfast it tasted like old grease was used and it was largely inedible

I am sorry to see you did not enjoy the breakfast as everything is cooked fresh from our chefs. Did you speak to your server in the morning as we would have dealt with this matter straight away

Give it a try.
Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Very reasonable prices. Staff were very polite and attentative. Best breakfast in Ayrshire. Our 2nd visit and we will be back again.

Didnt like shape of room it was an atic and kept banging my head also sea gulls landing on atic window . But it was clean and comfortable

Thank you for your review. It does state that some of the room are attics so it is always better to call the hotel directly to ensure you get the room you would like.

What a lovely warm welcome on a cold rainy night, a cosy fire to sit beside after wonderful food. Dog friendly with separate dining area provided. Tracy was more than helpful to accommodate our additional late booking. Would definitely come again if visiting the area.

Great location and lovely staff
Have stayed here before and always have a pleasant stay. It’s great for the price! Staff are brilliant and really enjoyed the dinner we had in the restaurant. The views are also gorgeous! A couple of slight niggles with the room - no mirror, no tea / coffee making facilities, no plugs near any bed. Was a tight squeeze too for a family but can’t complain at the price. Would definitely stay again.

Thank you for your kind review. In all rooms we have tea making facilities with complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits etc this is situated in your cupboard? We have the best views and perhaps you can call us directly as we have a family room on the ground floor which is bigger in size.

The Horizon Hotel Ayr Scotland
We had another enjoyable stay at The Horizon Hotel Ayr. Bedroom was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast and Dinner very good. Staff very pleasant friendly and helpful.

The staff at reception seemed quite rude and uninterested in helping initially. I was given directions to the room whoch was in the attic space, the stairs were extremely steep and the access stairs open towards you over the stairs making it awkward and in my view unsafe to carry luggage and bags up to the room The fee paid was meant to unclude breakfast but i was presented with a menu which had cooked breakfasts on and was instructed that only the cereal and fruit selection was included, cooked breakfasts were charged as extra, i didnt have breakfast as a result. The electric shower was small and had been crammed into a corner of the loft extension which resulted in me banging my head every time i used the shower, toilet or sink. The family room had 3 beds in one area and no additional space to move, the shower was broken and the heat settings were either burning hot or freezing cold Parking was limited to about 3 spaces at the hotel otherwise you had to park on the sea front which was again awkward with manouvering luggage. Wouldnt recomend

I am sorry to read your review ben. Firstly did you come down and speak to the manager on duty about your room and the issues you had? I can try my hardest to rectify issues if i am told about them. A family room is a room for 4 people and this was the room type you booked for your stay. Theses rooms are also advertised as attic rooms with stairs so people are aware on all sites. I do not understand your breakfast as your room was booked bed and breakfast so this includes anything from the bureau and a cooked breakfast? Our car park has 9 spaces and we also have a massive council car park to the front of the hotel and to the side. Did you ask anyone to help you with your luggage at check in as this would not have been a problem,

I have stayed here for 3 days every month for 4 months consecutively on business. Good rates, great vegetarian breakfast, very clean rooms. I'm lacking nothing when I stay here. My preferred hotel in Ayr now.

Weather was foul, but as we arrived evening we dined at the Horizon Hotel which was fine. It would have been nice to have a stroll as the Hotel is in a good location, and no issues to report.
