ok hotell, men flott beliggenhet i nasjonalparken.
Fin beliggenhet. Rommene var store, vi hadde familierom og hadde da eget rom til barna med køyeseng, vi hadde dobbelseng. Madrassene var ganske harde, og inventaret er gammelt. Badet var imidlertid bra og så nyere ut. Det var rent på rommet. Bassengene var bra, men garderoben kunne vært spylt/vasket oftere, spesielt i dusjen. Personalet var så som så, resepsjonen virket som ikke viste noe om området. Ett par av restaurantfolka var veldig sure og kjøkkenet klarte bare å servere 25 personer om gangen fordi om restauranten er stor.

Find another hotel!
We were there in September and were well pleased. Although the hotel needs a proper refurbishment. But now there were new owners, not Hilton anymore and everything was changed except that it still needs refurbishment. Thay have totally lost it. Last time they replied my e-mails, this time I sent two mails before we left, but I had to call to get an answer. I was told that I had sent to the wrong address (which I found on their website). There were long queues at check-in, some people had to wait half an hour. But there were people in the office behind the reception who didn't mind anything. My wife checked us in, I arrived a little later. She had to pay even though this was paid in advance (she didn't know it). We got a refund when I arrived, but the lady at the front desk couldn't see on the computer that we had paid in advance so i had to show here the receipt in my Hotels.com app. Last time the a la carte dinner was very good. Now it was buffet, the first evening we arrived late and they were waiting for us, and so had the food, the food was dry and they ran out of several dishes. Was a little better the other nights when we came earlier. There was only hot water in the taps in the room. Had to spend an hour and be in contact with 4 people to get a new room. Did not get an upgraded room, in the new it was not possible to regulate the heat and much was loose in the bathroom, but I gave up. My advise, Avimore is a great place, but find another hotel!

The hotel is extremely tired and poorly maintained. The carpets are old. The beds are uncomfortable. The staff are disorganised. You have to book to use the pool! The only redeeming factor is the amazing location. However, it's overpriced and we won't be returning

Hmmm ... it was a very nice hotel (in 1965). It has retained some of its characteristics from then until the 90s, but is now a little dated. Location is fine, but with nothing open around it (early May is not peak holiday season) it felt a little isolated. After a 6 hour motorcycle journey, Aviemore itself was just too far away so had to stay in. The evening meal at £25 each felt a bit steep, but the buffet meal was ok. Sweets were limited to a choice of four gateaux (very 80s) or ice cream in a tub. Everywhere was very clean. The pool times were very limiting if you checked in mid-week at 4pm ... it shut at 5pm ... and left at 10am check out it only opened at 9am. The room was clean and the shower was good, but the bath was chipped and the sinks painted coating (? !) was pealing off. The bed was also embarrassingly creaky even just turning over, but comfy enough for a good nights sleep. Overall it was ok for a one night stop over, but not sure it is a four star hotel (anymore).

Check in was straight forward. We turned up and 3 and got offered a pre check in which was great. Then after 4, you go to the side of reception to easily and quickly collect your keys. Staff in all areas were very friendly. We did swimming once which was good. You do have to pre book but we did this with a quick phone call. The slide is open for 20 minutes per session(which is 1 hour). We got pizza and nachos at the Woodhouse which was really good. We never had any other food at the hotel as went in Aviemore for more choice(30 minute walk but there’s also buses). However we did use the bar/lounge area by reception which was good. The room is fine. Yes it’s a bit dated but not to make your stay unpleasant or uncomfortable. The beds are a bit lumpy but didn’t stop us sleeping. Bathroom with bath and shower over was fine. We only really slept and got ready in the room. There was 2 adults and 2 children so the room did what we needed. The only complaint is the room was very hot even with the heating off. I assume this is due to insulation and location for the winter. There is a fan in the room though which helped! Overall we would definitely stay here again as there is loads to do for the kids. Taking into consideration the price for 2 nights(£240), I think this is a bargain considering comparable hotels in the area were about double that price. We have stayed in the Macdonald resort and I think Coylumbridge is better. We are looking forward to returning!

I last stayed here in December 2018 and decided to book again on 25/03/2023 for 1 night as a stopover visiting family whilst travelling down South. There were three of us and we checked in at 930pm. The hotel looked as good as last time when we pulled up. There were a few folk in the lounge as we walked to reception. We were attended to straight away and we received complementary room upgrades (Rooms 214 and 215). Our rooms were clean, tidy and modern. We didn't have dinner or breakfast so I can't comment on that although I did use the gym. There are less machines than I remembered but they were in good working order. The pool was closed for maintenance so I couldn't use it. The hotel seemed very quiet but I was very pleased with the facilities and would definitely come back again.

The staff are brilliant and very professional..unfortunately the standard of the food served has dropped dramatically ..lots of the items on the menu were cold , some looked like they were reheats and in general a huge turn off ...it's a pity because it was very good on previous visits ..any furure visit will not include meals.

The staff were immensely helpful and courteous. The facility was very safe, lovely and in a serene environment. The restaurant facilities were very neat, presentable, and brilliant as well. We even had a free upgrade. Thanks guys!

We stayed here as we got a great rate through Expedia and it had a swimming pool. . Bed wasn't the most comfortable and we didn't eat there but chose to get pizza from the Italian at the roundabout in Aviemore which we know is good. Can't complain for the money we paid but wouldn't go in it's busy period.

Never been to a hotel with so many rules. Booked the Half board but wasn't allowed to use all the restaurants and the main buffet was limited and of average quality. Adults MUST be in the pool with the kids, even though mine are competent swimmers I wasn't allowed to sit at the side of the pool whilst they swam. The Funhouse is good, but the Bowling Alley was damaged and closed as were a few of the games. But there is no entry after 5pm. I stayed at the hotel as my kids are bored at night in hotels and thought this entertainment of Pool, Table Tennis, Bowling, Arcades would be ideal but I couldn't use it any evening. Breakfast was really good. Overall I would not recommend this for familes, unless you are going to remain in the hotel all day. Really could be a special place that I would return to often with my kids, but they ruined it all with the lack of access.

The walls are quite thin and kids in surrounding rooms spent way to much time being allowed to scream and shout and run up the hallway

Great location
Booked 2 rooms for 2 nights. Great location for getting out and about. The reception and lounge/bar area of the hotel is very nice, and the staff were very friendly. 15 minutes to check in so ok. Rooms were dated in the Annex part where we stayed, and one of our rooms smelt of cigarette smoke. Overall our stay was ok.

Good low cost option
The biggest thing going for the hotel these days is the location which is wonderful. It is now a low end and low cost Hotel so expect that to be reflected in the decor , room comforts , and so on. Nice bar area , easy parking ( at the rear , not the front ). Set your expectation at the right level and you not be disappointed.

I loved this place, so glad I came & glad I wasn't put off by some reviews, It has such a vintage Charm 😍 I stayed longer than I booked for, For a woman travelling alone with a dog, its the perfect safe haven, pool, beautiful lounge, dated room..but like I said , love that vintage charm, clean & comfy, beautiful view of the woods, I've had the best holiday & I'm sad to leave, met some great people , Location is wonderful & its great for children here too, Go have a great time here 👍👍👍😊

Its OK....
Check in staff and waiters all really friendly. Room was spacious but dated. Restaurant offers a 3 course buffet for £25 which was way too high, especially when the food was cold and the choices were bleak. It was OK!

Much better than expected
I’ll admit, based on previous reviews, our expectations were low. However after a long day in the hills check in was friendly and efficient. The room was a little dated, but clean and comfortable, with basic amenities. We had a dinner package included with our deal. It was a buffet, which whilst not winning any gourmet food awards, was hot and filling. There was soup and a variety of salads to start, assorted meats, fish, vegetarian, chips, veg etc for mains, then assorted cakes and ice cream for pudding. Breakfast was a similar set up with a variety of cereals, breads, yoghurts and fruits and cooked options. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We did stay in a quieter time, so I wonder if this helped our experience. All in all I’d definitely stay again.

Ignore other people’s reviews, this hotel is perfect for the price you pay. It’s in a great location, clean and the staff are friendly. I don’t understand how people think this will be 5* luxury for the price you pay….
