The unit was not in acceptable condition upon arrival. Deficiencies included an unusable sofa bed, no sheets for the sofa bed, a foul-smelling comforter, a bath mat with a urine odor, and bed sheets with stains and a mildew smell, indicating improper laundering. There were also multiple maintenance failures: the main bedroom doorknob detached, the living room curtain rod collapsed when opening the window, the TV remote did not function, and basic supplies were missing, including AAA batteries, dishwashing detergent, and appropriate cookware for a week-long stay.I promptly and professionally notified the host, Jesse Lugard. I was advised that the unit could be cleaned but that I would be charged, despite these conditions existing at check-in. Due to the cleanliness, maintenance, and safety concerns, I checked out early.This property should not be advertised as a two-bed unit. Only one bed was suitable for sleeping, requiring me to purchase my own linens so my child could use the sofa bed.After checking out early and fully complying with all house rules, Jesse Lugard sent a copied message about me directly through the private messaging system, which was unprofessional. Communication throughout the stay felt automated and lacked accountability.For transparency, my guest profile reflects top-rated reviews from prior VRBO stays, and I consistently leave properties in excellent condition. Any negative review from this host would not accurately reflect my conduct as a guest.
