Just 2 miles along the coast is Powfoot, created in the 1790’s as a sea-bathing resort. Set just above the beach, it has an excellent golf course, one of several along this coastline. The annual spectacle of ’Annan Riding of the Marches’, a cavalcade of more than 100 horses riding through the streets of the town, is held in July, or why not discover Annandale Distillery and enjoy a fine single malt whisky?
