The Lemon Lodge - Ziggurat Suite

  • ## Space

    The Lemon Lodge is a renovated farmhouse split into two unique self sustainable lodgings. Water is pumped from the land and the power is generated from the sun.
    Surrounded by pine trees and situated on a hill, the suites have spectacular views of the valley and the food gardens.
    The two lodgings are inviting, comfortable yet rustic, as inspired by nature.

    Ziggurat is a spacious two-person suite with a private terrace where one can relax in the hammock or light up the barbecue.
    The modern interior is mixed with rustic Portuguese details. The high ceiling and soft romantic colours make you feel right at home.

    The suite has a large bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and overlooks the garden.
    The living room has a fireplace and an open-plan kitchen that caters for all your needs.

    As we believe the kitchen to be the heart of the house, the suite comes with complimentary tea, locally roasted coffee and essential kitchen herbs to enjoy your homespun meals. The suite is also provided with handcrafted biodegradable soap and shampoo made locally in the valley.

    ## Access

    ★ There is a permanent ice bath at the Sauna area. If you are familiair with Cold Exposure you are welcome to use it.

    ★ There is a beautiful spacious deck with an amazing view over the valley.

    Other things to note
    Please note that arriving after 9 PM is not recommended. Check-ins after 6 PM only in consultation with our local hosts.
    Please also note that the bedrooms are not heated, and during the winter months it can therefore feel quite cold.

    Driven by permaculture principles and a passion for living a sustainable lifestyle where nature sets the pace, four friends envisioned The Lemon Lodge. The joint hands of William & Michelle and Alex & Helena continuously work together to make The Lemon Lodge an eco-friendly farmstead that lives and breathes an enhancing way of life to inspire oneself and others.

    Together with our booking partners from Rental Valley, we'll make sure that your holiday already starts from the first moment of contact.

    ## Neighborhood

    The Lemon Lodge is closely located to the village of Aljezur, which is less than a 10 min drive or 45 min by foot. The walks in this area are stunning, and fortunately, the Lodge is situated next to the famous Pilgrim walk "Rota Vicentina" with the option for a circular route.

    This whole part of the Algarve has, in recent years, emerged as a surfer's and hikers' haven. Hugged by Cape St Vincent Natural Park and the beautiful mountains of Monchique, there are lots to explore by car, bike, horse or foot.

    ## Transit

    ✈︎ Faro to The Lemon Lodge, a 1-hour drive
    ✈︎ Lisbon to The Lemon Lodge is a 3,5-hour drive

    We recommend having your car explore the beautiful surroundings. However, if you wish to discover the unbeaten tracks, we suggest renting a 4x4.
    Once booked, we will send a clear route description on how to get here.

    Please note that the road towards our lodge can be navigated with a regular car but it is not a paved road.

    A pick-up can be arranged at the village of Aljezur when guests arrive after sunset.

    ## Notes

    We ask our guests to leave their four-legged friends at home as we have four dogs, two cats, two horses and lots of chickens walking around the land.

    ★ We started in May 2021 and have had amazing reviews during this first season. Unfortunately, due to a change in administration, we had to change our account here and couldn't take the reviews with. Therefore we've added a few print screens from our previous guests and their experiences at The Lemon Lodge. Happy readings!

    ℹ SEF REQUIREMENTS. All property owners in Portugal have a legal requirement to report tourists’ and guests'' information to Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras (known short as SEF). One of the best stays of our life

We simply loved our stay at the Lemon Lodge. It was without a doubt one of the most unique and beautiful places we ever slept in. The setting on top of the hill, being surrounded by nature, the discreet and helpful owners, the stylish and spacious appartment: it all made our first visit to the Algarve unforgetable. Amazing !!

We would recommend the lemon lodge to anyone who likes to forget about time and feel safe in nature. the location is absolutely amazing with a view over the aljezur mountains and the lodge is made with a lot of style and love. the hosts are open and warm people and you feel directly at home with them. they are always available for questions and always have a good recommendation ready. we will definitely be back!

Lemon Lodge is a dream come true!

Everything about this place is wonderful!! We spent 2 amazing days at Lemon Lodge and for sure would have stayed longer if we could have. The owners have put so much love and attention to detail into this place, which is very noticeable. It's just beautiful! There are lots of little places to sit, read a book and relax around the property. For us the best part was definitely also the ice bath, sauna and yoga deck! The dogs were also a big plus for us, we had a really fun time playing around with them. Perfect place to come wind down and relax for a few days! Can 100% recommend!

A beautiful experience in an authentic and natural setting.

Although we found a window with only 2 nights free, it was totally worth going to Lemon Lodge. Beautiful nature, hills, authentic and spacious clay, brick and mortar house. All things done with love and care. The fireplace was burning throughout the day and the smell of eucalyptus was amazing. We really enjoyed our stay. The owners are great people with their vision, passion and an inspiring story behind their work. This kind of tourism experience has future - keep up doing what you are doing!

The perfect way to escape reality and reset

If you’re looking for a place to completely escape from the hustle of bustle of every day life, this is it. The Lemon Lodge offered a true retreat. My partner and I spent 3 nights here and didn’t leave the property. It was so quiet and peaceful that we didn’t want to break the spell of this oasis. It seems like every guest has the same mindset and everyone stays quiet and to themselves to really get the most out of their experience. We also did the breathework session, and clairvoyance session with Helena and both really added to our experience. We have never been able to relax as much as both of these sessions allowed us to do. We couldn’t thank her more for these wonderful experiences. Overall we couldn’t recommend this place more. Total tranquility, peace, and contemplation.

Nice on photos but reality is different

The presentation of this accommodation on the internet looks very nice and promising. However, we got a strong impression that since the property is listed for sale, the owners have lost interest in exploiting the accommodation in a correct way. First of all, communication with rental Valley went rather difficult. We had to call the owner to know the digit code for the lock on the door. Upon check-in, no one came to say hi or did so for the length of the stay. Nor did anyone call to check if all was ok. When we returned at night, we almost had to break into the house because the lock is very sturdy and we almost didn’t manage to turn the digits. Kitchen is poorly equipped. 2 fires, no microwave or oven, no dishwasher, no detergent to wash dishes by hand. The bed is very good! The dog is very kind and welcoming.

The most wonderful place

We fell in love with the Lemon Lodge and were super sad we could only stay three nights. Yes, the drive up there is adventurous but once you’ve mastered the bumpy ride, you get rewarded with the most amazing setting. The house is beautifully designed, very well equipped and the colours and lighting are stunning and well thought through. We got to meet Michelle, who is such a lovely person. The dogs and cats came to visit us regularly which we loved. We explored the premises which are vast and absolutely beautiful. What a great place! We hope to be back again someday.

perfect place to relax and reconnect with nature

We booked the lodge to take a few days off. The lodge is surrounded by beautiful nature, but only 10 minutes away from the centre of Aljezur. The rooms are designed in a modern, beautiful and clean style, which helps you to relax. The hosts are very lovely and brought us fruits from the garden and eggs from the own chickens.There is a cosy lounge and hammock on the terrace where you can listen to the leaves blowing in the wind. the kitchen is fully equipped. We didn't miss anything and we will definitely come back again.
