Masse kråker som bråker rundt solsengen, prøvde å spise maten vår og bæsjet på oss. Så en rotte i hagen ved solsengen, samt en salamander inne på toalettet i førsteetasjen. Tomme flasker, matrester og velværeprodukter ble ikke ryddet ut av rommet. Vi ble ikke opplyst om at det skulle være bryllup på hotellets uteområde, son beslagla soleområdet (det føltes upassende å ligge i bikini midt i et bryllup)

Finner noe annet neste gang.
Hotellet har en flott beliggenhet. Super strand med gode surfemuligheter. Rommene er upåklagelige. Men det hersker en total uorden blant det meste av personalet. Rot med bestillinger, personalet glemmer til og med sine egne forslag på bestillinger. Unntak finnes. Baren stenger 23:00. Du er også helt låst til hotellets restauranter. Og de bærer middels kvalitet. Det verste er alt som hele tiden er utsolgt. Vann, Whiskey, mat og vin. De skyldte på at det var jul. Men dette var langt ut i romjulen. Kom julen som en overraskelse. Alt for få solsenger. Mange måtte finne seg et håndkle og legge seg på bakken.Ved utsjekk forsøkte de å dobbeltbeleaste rommet, som var forhåndsbetalt.

Hotel was excellent. Spacious rooms, excellent amenities, great dining options - but what really made the difference in our stay was Yasara, a guest experience specialist, who was incredible.

The staff were lovely and very helpful. We loved the morning yoga sessions and selection of food in the buffet. However, there is a shortage of sun loungers and a lot of loud music around the pool and beach making it an unrelating experience.

A fantastic and luxurious property, that felt like a home away from home for the three nights that we stayed. Staff were so helpful and welcoming and would go out of the way to help us in any way possible. The room was incredible and so comfortable and the beach was stunning.

Disappointed
It was a large American hotel which seemed out of place in a Sri Lankan location. I didn’t enjoy it. Too American and not enough local feel. The service tried too hard and was intrusive.

Awesome property! It’s pricey but it’s Marriott, and you get what you pay for. I often stay at Marriott properties and this was one of the best ones I’ve been to. The staff was great, the whole hotel was extremely clean and stylish. Our room (King balcony ocean view) was spacious, and our bathroom felt luxurious. This was one of our last nights of our Sri Lanka trip and it was the perfect hotel to end on! Relaxing in luxury before heading home.

Really good stay at Weligama Marriott. The hotel facilities and services were amazing. Special mention to Sanduni and Ishan who were always very helpful and gave great customer service!

Outstanding overall, better than expected!
I was very pleasantly surprised at how much better this hotel was than I had expected, and I had high expectations! Rooms are even better than in the photos on this site. Much more to do and a bigger hotel than the impression given online. Fabulous reception area and mezzanine. Great pools and pool-side restaurant. The dinner buffet was well worth paying for, really stunning array of tasty and diverse foods, all so fresh. Room and bed so comfortable with a great bath in standard room and all newly furnished. Would definitely book again. Maybe too many small plastic water bottles. Could consider glass like other hotels now. But nice to get free water supply. Only issue was not hotel's fault, but beach water was very dirty and not really nice for swimming and also there is little to do within walking distance, no nice beach-side cafes etc. A bit in the middle of nowhere, but nice to wander amongst fishing boats on beach.

The one and only place to stay at Weligama. Finally a hotel that puts both Mirissa and Weligama on the tourist map without having to bother about the nightlong issues of hygiene safety and food quality.

Marriot Weligama - not great
The entire hotel had no diet drinks, so no Diet Coke or Pepsi. On departure, after spending over £2000 at the hotel we found out that we had given our last change (cash money) as tips to our waiters, however the Uber to the airport (which no human should ever get as they try to extort you half way through the journey by pretending they have “cancelled” the trip, or the app has “failed”, but this is all a big scam to give them money. Myself and my partner were traumatised by this and had to call the police as the Uber driver was very aggressive and pulled us over at a random location on the way to the airport and demanded money. The hotel staff were absolutely useless once we had officially checked out, but did eventually (after hours of discussion) give us “500 Sri Lankan rupees (about £1.30) in case of an “emergency”. I can’t imagine what emergency would be sorted by £1, but hey these people are experts at extortion. The same scam happened on the journey from Colombo to the hotel, so please never ever, get an Uber in Sri Lanka- they always will try and scam you and intimidate you. I genuinely can’t imagine how bad the journeys would have been if my partner was alone, or with a child.

Everything was perfect except for the check in when the Diners Card that was used for pre-authorization at hotels.com was apparently not working in the hotel. Lady at the check in counter did not know if they use Diners or not, tried 4 times and finally I switched to a different card. Overall hotel is very good for families with children, good conditions for learning the surfing, good food spots around the hotel.

Hotel is nice but not luxury 5* hotel. Service is very good and prices are affordable. Only big resort hotel in Weligama and from walking distance to everywhere in Weligama. Beach is nice and good restaurants nearby. Breakfast is buffee type and hotel has one ala carte sea food restaurant. We didn’t try buffee dinner.

What I liked most is the availability of multiple restaurants serving different cuisines, so one would be able to choose from a variety of dishes. I also liked the proximity of the hotel next to many shops selling all what you may need. I didn’t like the sea, as it was very difficult to swim will all the surfers around.
