Be careful when staying if you do t book through the hotels site they hit you with a ton of fees and charges. If you get the breakfast option and pay for it read the very tiny fine print and ask to confirm the information before ordering. Staff don’t know the rules you have to speak with a manager of else you’ll be charge upwards of $100 on extra fees. Don’t expect customer service prior to check in or even after check in if you book through Expedia, you will hear the excuse “you booked through a third party so unfortunately we can’t help.” If this doesn’t bother you then stay for sure, for the price I’ll try another hotel next time.

A lovely boutique hotel. The staff (reception and restaurant) were genuinely friendly and helpful, the rooms modern, bright and clean, and the facilities were exactly what we needed. We had a simple breakfast in the restaurant each morning, which suited us perfectly. And, while I didn’t see it in the website, the hotel has a solid gym with all of the basics of weights and workout equipment you’d need. The rooftop pool also looked very nice, but we were there in April and the pool opens May. Love the unique decor and vibe!

The numerous bad reviews on different websites should have made me more attentive to not book 3 nights at hotel Zena Washington D.C. from Expedia. This place is ridiculous and full of bad surprise for their guests. I still can’t believe Hotel Zena is somehow part of the brand Viceroy. Maybe this is the reason why I was confident. I’ve traveled the world and this place is clearly NOT a 4 star hotel. Even having one of their best rooms, Studio king, we felt trapped. The check-in process was the first big anomaly of a long list. Don't worry, I will not waste time reiterating what has already been said in more than several reviews on different platforms. Simply the undertrained staff should be immediately replaced. What a shame for the Viceroy brand and D.C. We will never go back to this place and most definitely DO NOT recommend to anyone! Message for Sherry Abedi, the General Manager (who post answers online): Please don’t waste your time with your copy and paste typical answer. Your apology and promise to “do better” will not change anything. The only purpose of my review is to hopefully warn good people who are looking for a hotel in Washington D.C. The city is full of real 4 stars hotels with truly attentive staff and beautiful rooms. Now you know!

They did not tell us about the amenities fee that was $30 / day so we were spending extra money on things that were included. There was also a giant centipede in our room. Friend stayed there at the same time and there was no hot water in their room.

Loved: We stayed here with our 2 teenaged daughters and we loved the pro-women vibe. The rooms and lobby have a great updated vibe as well. The staff were friendly and helpful . The restaurant , Fig Leaf was amazing . We had breakfast , dinner and an evening bite and every meal was delicious . One night we ate at Founding Farmers (recommended by chatgbt) which was awful and we regretted not eating at hotel. Walking distance to many museums and monuments . We also enjoyed playing pool after a day of sightseeing. We wished that it was summer because I bet the rooftop bar and pool would be lovely. Did not love: The $30 a night service charge for basically nothing . That covered keurig coffee pods which were awful and bottled water. Bike rental too but, really? We did borrow some board games one night. I recommend Say Anything, lol. I would recommend this hotel for safety, location, great service and the amazing food.

We really enjoyed our time in DC and loved the neighborhood the hotel was in. Everyone was so friendly and the breakfast was a favorite for us and our kids. Very walkable to all the restaurants and monuments. If you Uber anywhere is about 7-10 minutes. We enjoyed everything here! A great experience. We will be back.

The hotel gave a boutique vibe. Check in was quick with complimentary juice at the counter upon arrival. The lobby is nicely designed with a bar, pool table and comfortable seating area. There is also a tiny store if you need last minute snacks. The room was very neat and standard size. There is a fridge however no microwave to warm food. The bed was super comfy and the shower had an interesting design. Disappointing was the pool is not accessible until Memorial Day which should be listed on the website as the pool was one of my reasons for booking. The water pressure at the sink was low and there was an issue with the light not working above my bed or the side lamp. The property is overall nice and would stay again. The gentleman with the bald head at the bar was super pleasant and it is nice when you meet vety pleasant staff.

Staff was amazing! Several lights in room didn’t work. You shouldn’t share a room with anyone you don’t want to be able to watch you shower in The shadow box style shower. Lots of stains throughout the property and it could be cleaner. The biggest upset for me was all of the add on “fees” and deposit. As a gold member I was able to request early check in (I knew there would be a fee). We also had a $25 Expedia gold credit. We also got 2 mixed drinks at the bar ($50 😮). With that being said the “fees” at check out were $275!!!!! That’s more than half of what I paid Expedia to book the room for the weekend. This is just dishonest pricing/ bait and switch, and even with as nice as the staff was I won’t book here again.

Loved our stay at Zena. The stay was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. We loved our room choice and are happy with the fact that we did the larger room. Inside the room, there were a couple of minor things (taped ceiling lights, scratched floors) that we noticed but it didn't affect our overall stay. The room was clean and we felt very comfortable. Would stay again!

Great boutique hotel located a few blocks from the metro. Close to White House. Friendly staff at reception. Yummy flavored waters offered at entrance. Beds were comfy although the pillows were a little too stiff for us. That’s just personal preference. Would definitely stay again.

We had a lovely stay and the customer service was A1. I will definitely be coming back. Plus we lucked up with parking the entire weekend. The room was beautiful and I loved the women empowerment theme!

This is a very nice hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. The bed was super comfortable. I do wish they had hooks to hang towels and more cabinet space for clothing. They are supposed to be eco friendly but how do you inform staff that towels will be reused. The staff is very pleasant and the lobby has a very hip and modern feel. The art work all around the property is very interesting.
