Fem stjerners hotell og pris, en stjernes rom.
Dette var det verste hotellrommet vi har hatt. Fem stjerners hotell, en stjernes rom. Det var knøttlite, fuktig, slitt og skittent, spindelvev i krokene. Måtte få en stor ovn inn i rommet, ikke plass å bevege seg. I tillegg var det mye støy. Ansvarlig for renhold ble tilkalt og vi ble lovet et mye bedre rom påfølgende natt. De ville absolutt gjøre noe spesielt for oss som var i en slik trist situasjon. Vi betalte mer enn NOK 3 000,- pr natt. Dette løftet ble ikke holdt. Trist, men sant. Hotellet var "slitent".

Beautiful and good service
Very nice hotel, we were very satisfied (got a pretty good price too). Service very good, except at pool, where people had to wait around while the poolboy had a swim (walked around in just shorts, not exactely 5 star service, more like 1 star). Bed was a bit hard for my taste, but I guess thats a matter of taste. Location nice at the shores of Lake Maggiore, about 1h drive from Milan.

Old world charm, the rooms are frumpy, not modern, but that's not a negative. The views of the lake are amazing, it is right across the street. Great location and food.

A truly grand hotel, in excellent condition, staffed by efficient and friendly people who are so kind and helpful. This hotel is a stand-out for us, having visited several countries. Worth a trip. The physical location on Lago Maggiore is almost too beautiful to truly take in! Spectacular!

This is a beautiful well kept property. The breakfast was amazing. The service was amazing. Even a towel check in the evenings. Everything was wonderful.

A true five star experience
A truly 5-star experience. The hotel staff is exceptional, with the ability to make you feel welcome whether this is your first time visitor or a returning guest. We found that the best thing to do was to go with the flow of the place and let it delight us, and it was worth it. A few pointers to other guests. The rooms are lovely and spacious, if a bit overwhelmingly baroque. The building is old but well-maintained. Exquisite. At times it feels like you’re in a museum. It’s worth upgrading to a lake view room. If you want a break from the baroque, head over to the spa which is modern as it gets. The indoor and outdoor pools are lovely, the views are stunning. The complimentary spa offer is perfect but if you want to experience the treatments go ahead. We found some of them a little bit gimmicky but pleasant (we tried the Pathway to Heaven, a 2-hour couple’s experience which in hindsight was not the best thing to do but it was ok). All in all, we met several other guests who keep returning to the hotel time and again, over many years. We can see why, and we ourselves are booking a return trip for next year.

Bed bug bites!!!!
Be careful **** multiple bites, still healing a week after trip. Spoke with other guests who informed us that it was bed bugs as they had an issue as well and saw them in bed. Check in was problematic as they didn’t seem to have the room on booking. Did not seem to be well run hotel. Very old clientele. Thought we might have gone to an assisted living facility by accident. Staff service in breakfast area was almost nonexistent. Could not get hot water for tea. Staff busy cleaning tables, but not serving clients. Could not remember to bring milk, or eggs or anything else requested. Happened each day. Requested boiled eggs before leaving to airport to eat later and upon going to eat them later found they were barely cooked and runny. Overall not what you expect. They have a view (depending on the room), they have an old hotel, but this is not 5 stars.

The review is completely false and slanderous.Truth is that guest booked for ONE person but were TWO people.In this case the rate is different (see rates in Expedia).Guest was not happy to pay and was very aggressive. I personally checked the guests out, they did not report any kind of bugs, (as a matter of fact nobody reported bed bugs).The review is obviousely a petty revenge for an ill perceive grievance claimed by the customer.

Hitel très bien. Le spa est extraordinaire avec sauna, hammam et de très belles installations. Un must. Le restaurant du soir est décevant. Dommage qu'il n'y ai pas du café dans les chambres ni de bouteilles d'eau

Absolutely beautiful one of a kind classic hotel. If Hemingway and Churchill stayed here that about says it all. Excellent food and service. One of the top hotels in all of Europe.

We payed for a room with garden view and we reeived a room with of the spa roof, very bad. The food we reiceiva was nothing special. The property is beautiful, the service is good.

Family vacation
We were so looking forward to staying at this hotel and it didn’t disappoint in anyway. The hotel is beautiful both inside and out. It is immaculately maintained and the staff were all so lovely and helpful. Our room had beautiful lake and pool views and was so large and comfortable. The grounds and pool were so easy to enjoy and relax in. Breakfast in the terrace and drinks in the bar if an evening were a great way to start and end the day. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Amazing hotel , all the staff is well trained and friendly and you feel welcomed and at ease from the moment you arrive. l also loved the piano bar we enjoyed in the evenings as well as the amazing rooms.. very clean, very spacious and very regal. It feels like you live in an Italian castle with view over the lake … very happy with all the hotel had to offer. Dinner in the main restaurant is again faultless to a T. I’ve been to many good restaurants all over the world and this is not far from the best restaurants in London. Waiters and food are absolutely lovely and waters are perfectly trained and always with a smile on their faces. Well done to restaurAnt team who are going beyond their duties to make everyone happy. If I had to make one small criticism would be the reservation system at the pool. There were days when the staff reserved padded lounging chairs around the pool for people who never turned up so some chairs were left unused the entire day and other guests who came a bit late were given unpadded chairs on the grass away from the pool. Made no sense to me but maybe someone can review the reservation system and improve it. Thank you to all the staff for contributing to making our holiday a special memory.
