worst hotel stay in years, room was very tired, wardrobe door was broken, television was not working properly and not repaired during our two day stay, although reported shortly after arrival, food choice extremely limited and of very poor quality. could not recommend this hotel

It's a very satisfying hotel located half an hour's walk from Sheffield City Centre. Great breakfast, friendly staff and extremely accommodating at all hours. Could do with slightly better wi-fi and air conditioning in rooms however highly recommended otherwise

The staff, particularly Amhieet, were delightful! They made the stay pleasant. However, there was a large event happening at the hotel that we were not made aware of until after we checked in. This event was blasting music until 12AM which prevented us from sleeping. We would have appreciated being emailed beforehand so that we could make alternate arrangements instead of having no choice but to stay awake half the night. Additionally, the toilet in our room was only barely functional and despite reporting it to reception, nothing was done to try to repair it or move us to a different room. They told us to just press the handle harder, which did not make a difference. There was mold in the shower heads, half a used cigarette on the floor of the bathroom, and no plugs near the beds to charge devices. Lastly, the WiFi was almost nonexistent and even the television struggled to display anything. Very disappointed because the property was beautiful and we were greatly looking forward to a relaxing stay.

Beautiful area and beautiful exterior of the hotel. Until you walk into your room and it hasn't had an update since 1974. Very old fashioned furniture, holes in the carpet and upholstery. Air conditioning not working. Very disappointing compared to the outside of the building and the lovely foyer.

There was dried blood on bedsheets- a total health hygiene and had to be moved room due to it and heating didn’t work in the second room I was moved to

The hotel looks historically nice. A comfortable bed with marshmallow soft pillows (not always a good thing). I went to the Gym to use a spin-bike but it was broken Grrrrr to staff available to ask! Due to a conference our breakfast had to be taken in the back of beyond and scored a 4/10. My bathroom had a dripping hot tap. The bath was leaking underneath, I had to use my towels, it was obviously historical as the woodwork was rotten.

Visit to Sheffield
Heating didn’t work, so staff provided a small electric radiator, which worked well. Room was great. Might be better with net curtains as the large window was at ground level and we had curtains drawn and lights on all the time.

A lovely older property but very much in need of a lick of paint on the lower rooms level. One private room had a fist punch mark on the door which had just been left! Calling into question a single females safety. Only two tea bags which was poor. Room otherwise clean, smart. No heating on which was fair enough, but second quilt was fastened so tight it was like a straight jacket. Good idea to provide an extra one though, with the austerity of no heating.

Stay was ok. Room adequate at the price point,staff really friendly and helpful. Wedding on at the same time and music seemed to get louder until around 1:30am when it finally ended and caused my partner a poor night of of sleep.but can’t really grumble all in all.

sadly I did not read the reviews prior to booking here. The room was freezing cold on arrival and throughout our 1 night stay. The main reason for this is the room is fitted with wooden French doors, which were letting in a lot of draft at the join where both doors meet. We contacted reception to be told that they were all out of electric heaters as all the rooms are so cold. we were provided 1 extra duvet for our family room which contained 2 double beds. the shower was also Luke warm at best. Breakfast was pretty poor with limited vegetarian options.

Privilege room decor and furniture tired; carpet stained, sink cracked, curtains a mix of long and short which were half hanging off, table blistered and old, armchair seats coming out underneath. Complained and moved to another privilege room. This was a little better as we had lamps and pictures in this one, but was still tired. Old radiators were useless and gave off little heat so room and bed was freezing cold. We were given another duvet as no blankets. Next day room was still cold despite radiators being on so requested a heater. One duvet cover had holes in, the other duvet cover was ripped. How this hotel can advertise to be luxury 4* is beyond us...

Lovely well sited hotel but could be even better
The pool and Spa are delightful and reception very helpful but as I like quiet hotel I wouldn't want to stay when there's a wedding on. Better signage or a map of the interior of hotel would mean I didn’t need to keep stopping at reception. Perhaps the hotel can work out a way to keep staff in/near the restaurant, it was 15 minutes before someone arrived to give me a menu (I seated myself).

Never again.. room 202
After using this hotel for over 12 yrs weve just completed our last stay. The decline in the whole place is obvious. The room servicing... our cups, glasses etc not refreshed... sheets not changed once. Key didnt work every day.. bathroom toiletries empty. Bathroom filthy, cracked toilet, badly stained bath, black slime around floor and tiles. Also loud parties all 3 nights which we hadn't been pre warned about and our room was near the function room. Ground floor room, no privacy blinds or curtains . No main light so room was really dark. Heating on full with no means of turning it down. Third morning breakfast room closed , we hadn't been told, and had to go to opposite end of hotel where breakfast was squeezed into a tiny room. Broken coffee machines and cold plates and cold food. No towels at doggy station all three days, except used muddy ones left there. Parking terrible. Never going back. Such a shame to find the severe decline in what used to be a lovely place to stay with our dog

We thought we had booked a room in the old building with a balcony - we were given a 1980’s decorated room in the newer part which had a patio as was on the ground floor - I wanted to stay in a character building - not an 80’s brick building.

Would not return.
Very poor overall, terrible breakfast and poor organisation in the breakfast hall. No plates available, glasses or coffee cups, big queues of everyone chasing all the above, low quality ingredients been used. Only water coming out of the orange and apple juice dispenser. Bedrooms really cold, no hot water in the morning. Went to tell reception twice but no one available. And then previous guests private things left in bedside cupboard, so not checked by the cleaning team beforehand.

bathroom lights did not work. room needed update. Compared to 4 other couples I paid more considering only one person in double room, so only one breakfast which was included.

The public areas were dirty this included the bar area, restaurant and spa. The latter was filthy with hair, tissue and scum in the steam room, pool area and changing rooms. The gym had dirty tissue which was there when I arrived and still there two days later. No hot water in the room and it was almost 12 hours later before I was offered another room. The restaurant service was terrible. It took an hour for the first course to be served and over twenty minutes passed with no sign of a dessert. The reception staff were never present at the desk and spent all their time in what appeared to be a back office. Thoroughly disappointed

booked at a bargain price on hotels . Com. A nice easy walk into town and a cheap Uber home. The pools lovely , enjoy it. Free parking more than helps to compensate for the small premium over city centre hotels.
