St. Paterne - slottsopphold
Hotellet eies og drives av et ungt par, og er deres hjem samtidig som det er et fullverdig, flott hotell. Ligger like utenfor Alencon og har en stor plen / park tilhørende hotellet. Anbefales - selv om det ligger i øvre prisleie ( = nesten norske priser).

A fascinating experience. The Chatelaine herself manages the venue which is everything you would expect in a period French Chateau. This is not a conventional modern hotel!, but is very enjoyable place to stay for a few nights. We had the Tower room which is large and well appointed (however to be avoided if you can't cope with the 50 steps to get there) We dined in the elegant dining room for one evening and out on the lawn for the second night, with pre-dinner drinks on the terrace.each evening.

A privilege to share a family home for a few days
This is a beautiful family home in naturally cultivated garden and grounds. We stayed in the Mystere suite which might be difficult to access for some guests as you have to climb a 52 step stone spiral staircase. Once up in the room we enjoyed home comforts but found the lack of aircon in such an exceptionally hot period made night sleep a little uncomfortable. That said there was a large fan which definitely helped. Highlights for us was the aperitifs folllwed by dinner at 8 - a set menu of absolutely fantastic foods prepared on site with fresh ingredients. We had stayed in several similar places previous to arriving at the Chateau and the meals far exceeded any expectation. Definitely a recommendation for visitors who want a unique French experience.

Séjour très agréable
Très agréable séjour, la vie de château. Logés dans l' orangerie, chambre magnifique, et nous avons pu profiter du parc pour une promenade, des salons, avec les autres clients, durant l' apéritif, et de la salle à manger pour le diner, éclairés uniquement aux chandelles. service très sympathique, personnel et propriétaires entièrement à votre écoute. C' est vraiment la vie de château dans un cadre complètement authentique.

Superb stay! Thank you
I booked the Chateau last minute based on a quick search. The venue was stunning, I was invited to dine in the Chateau and the hosts were extremely accommodating, being Vegetarian in France isn't the easiest so I was very grateful for this. The breakfast was delicious, the room wonderful, and the grounds fantastic. I look forward to visiting again very soon!

A wonderful experience
The ambience of the château was a pleasure much appreciated. The property was in need of a little renovation, but the staff, meeting the guests for aperitifs and the wonderful grounds made for a happy stay.

The luxurious Chateau de Saint Paterne, Alencon
This 14th to 17th century chateau provides luxury accommodation with elegantly decorated en-suite bedrooms, spacious dinning room, library and lounge. the chateau's parkland is vast with swimming pool and hot-tub facilities and various games for children and adults. The breakfast are continental and fresh and evening meal of 4 courses of a high quality, though fixed as to menu. We have stayed at the chateau several times and never been disappointed by the friendly helpful staff and the comfort and elegance of the surroundings and will be visiting again next year, pandemics permitting.

Unfortunately my wife became very ill and we could not go to France. I was so distracted I forgot to cancel the hotel. The owner was so kind and refused payment even though I was a no show and he was entitled to full charge. Quite remarkable generosity. I will go and stay ASAP.

A little more shabby then chic....
From the glossy photos, this is appears to be a high end boutique hotel, and in some ways it is from the beautiful facade to the common areas in the hotel; the room however was a let down. There’s ‘rustic’ and there’s shabby, and unfortunately we felt like ours was the latter. It was such as shame because we had a mezzanine level room (the bathroom being upstairs) with original beams and flooring but the rest just seemed to be an attempt to furnish the room like the downstairs, such as the rocky cheap banister (which was modern wood stained a mahogany colour) and suspended bed canopy. A food crusted tea spoon and chipped mug did little to raise the standard. I would imagine if we booked one of the other rooms, things may have been different, but for the price paid for the night I expected better. The staff were great, and other than a small problem on checkout (we booked online and paid in full) it took 15 minutes for them to check whether the room had been paid for. This is a problem for the hotel and Expedia to resolve, not the customer. Having stayed at other boutique Château’s in France where the standard is exceptional, this hotel would do well to check out their competitors.....

Wonderful Romantic Evening
We had a wonderful stay in the Dame room. The grounds are amazing and we enjoyed the pool and playing table tennis and bowls. After a romantic stroll we settled in to the room with a book and a view. The bed is really comfortable and the staff are all really friendly and accommodating. We love the resident dogs too.

Charm, character and fantastic food.
Whilst more of a family manor house than a large chateau it is full of charm and character. The accommodation is authentic and historic. Love the families dogs mingling with those of the guests. The most surprising aspect of the stay was dinner. Cooked by the owner it was one of the most memorable meals I’ve had. Four courses including beautiful cheese for €49 served by an incredibly friendly and competent Asian lady. The chef was very accommodating and generous regarding a last-minute dietary issue. An overnight stay here with dinner is highly recommended.

There was no staff available at all, or no food for the evening of my stay. They had used such strong cleaners or fragrances in the room that I had to sleep with the window open, yet still had a migraine attack during the night and morning. This put my meetings the next day in jeopardy. Beautiful grounds, but unfortunately the absolute lack of staff, guidance etc left me feeling incredibly unsecure.

Shared luxury at Chateau de Saint Paterne
Though not well signposted, once discovered the entrance is impressive, with ample parking space for the number of rooms available. The welcome was warm, and we benefited from a room upgrade as occupancy was not high. The bedroom was in the grand manner of a chateau with connections to Henry IV, the room enormous and well furnished with period pieces, the bed grand in style, the room with views over the parkland estate. The setting is very peaceful and the night's sleep deep and relaxing, with quality en-suite facilities providing a refreshing start to the following day. We dined at the chateau and were well attended by a cheerful member of staff throughout the five course meal from aperitif to dessert and coffee. The continental breakfast provided a range of cereals, breads, cheeses, cold meats and fruit, juices and fresh tea and coffee again in the elegant dinning room.

An ideal start or end to a holiday in France
This is a beautiful and charming hotel in a Chateau. It is ideal as a stop driving down through France or going back to the UK. We stayed one night each way and everything about our stay was delightful - the Chateau itself, the bedrooms and gardens, the lounge with large log fire where we were served aperitifs before dinner (included in the price) and the excellent food. The owners and staff were exceptionally friendly and created a convivial atmosphere amongst the guests.

Lovely chateau close to Alencon
Lovely old chateau hotel, but it should be made clear that dinner is a 4 course meal without choice unless the hotel is advised in advance. There is no option for a single course. The price was 49 euros per head plus wine. Expensive if you don't like what is served.

Wonderful Family Chateau
Grand but welcoming family chateau on magnificent grounds. Champagne and gin and tonics flow at pre-dinner drinks on the terrace followed by a superb candle-lit four course dinner- ours included asparagus flan and roast lamb. The hosts are charming and seemingly unflappable with a constant parade of multinational guests.

Chateau de SaintPaterne - lovely setting
We were very impressed with this chateau and grounds. We were offered a choice of rooms and took the historically famous room used by Henry IV and with a balcony. The living/dining rooms were spectacular as was the dinner. We walked around the grounds on our arrival. A definite must stay place!
