The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The food in the specialty restaurants was very good. The buffet breakfast was great. Lunch and dinner in the buffet was pretty weak. The rooms were clean but had a strong musty smell.

DONT STAY HERE! Soooo many better options! - Stayed at Barceló Puerto Vallarta for dad and husband's birthdays. - Food quality was awful, buffet and a la carte options disappointing. - All staff were unfriendly, often ignoring us, despite us tipping with every request - Italian restaurant forgot parts of orders, despite being reminded twice, enforced a strange pants rule; my brother was forced to change into his ripped sweatpants instead of his nice dress shorts, which were more appropriate. - Service throughout the resort was consistently poor; staff either ignored us or were outright rude, making simple requests feel like an inconvenience. - Cockroaches found in room, unacceptable. - Drinks were heavily watered down, bartenders seemed to hate being there; only Los Arcos restaurant was somewhat decent. - Request for birthday decorations for my husband was completely ignored by unwelcoming front desk staff. (Jocelyn was rude, unfriendly, unhelpful and dismissive) - Left feeling deeply disappointed and sad and wasted our money; only positive was Michael Jackson tribute night. - Wouldn't recommend the resort due to poor food, hygiene, and service. -first time we are returning home relieved the trip is over -don’t let the cheap price trick you. It’s still not worth it. Don’t expect a smile from any of the staff there. Do they hate working there or just hate any guest that isn’t a local??!! 1.5 out of 5 stars Disappointing Experience @Barcelo Puerto Vallarta Our stay @Barcelo Puerto Vallarta was a major letdown. The food selection was dismal, with limited options that left much to be desired. The service was equally poor, with staff often ignoring us and failing to meet basic expectations. One of the most frustrating aspects was the so-called dress code for the specialty restaurants. They insisted on long pants, but this rule seemed completely arbitrary. I was forced to change out of my dress shorts, which matched my entire family's attire, into sweatpants with rips along the back. These were deemed more suitable than my neat shorts – a nonsensical policy that left me baffled and annoyed. The resort had only one bar besides the swim-up bar, which was closed at night. This limited our options severely, and to top it off, the games room charged an outrageous $25 US for 10 tokens. When we misplaced a room key, we were told it would cost $50 US to replace it, though we luckily found it later. Entertainment was lackluster, with shows that failed to engage the audience, except for the Michael Jackson tribute. Service at the buffet was atrocious; one night, our group of eight was completely ignored – no water, no checking in, nothing. Overall, our stay at Barcelo Puerto Vallarta was marked by poor service, arbitrary rules, and disappointing amenities. We won't be returning and cannot recommend this resort to others.

Second time here. Pros — Staff that made our stay awesome!: Apolonia, Aldo, Jiovanny, Oscar, Edgar, Jesús F.; Oswaldo D (and he is in his first month there!). Loved Alonso’s poolside Spanish lesson. Food is fairly consistent in the buffet. Enjoyed the Italian alacarte most. Cons - Spa treatment was lovely but not pleased it was credit card only for paying. Adult pool was great most of the time… but loud kids ended up in it often. Also no enforcement of smokers outside smoking area and butts left under loungers.

The food options were limited. I hoped for more options at the buffet. By the end of our stay, the music was like water torture. We could not escape it. As always, the staff and service was wonderful. While aging a bit, the facilities are very clean and well kept. Just not enough to overcome the noise. I blame Expedia more for this. Need to provide the ability to filter out properties for noise.

This was my 3rd trip to Barcelo, the staff was exceptional! The property offers many events and activities; if you want a quiet vacation; you wont be happy. The maintenance needs improvements/upgrades to the rooms. Overall, a great vacation and we will be back a trip well worth the money.

The staff and the service were the best we've ever received, with the exception of one incident while calling for room service. Otherwise, everyone was extremely welcoming and service oriented. The property is fine. Have stayed twice this month on the Premium level, both for overnight visits to catch next day flights. The first stay we were assigned to a room that was occupied when we entered the suite. First time that has ever happened to me while travelling. Facilities are clean. The 24 hour room service is a plus although the menu is extremely limited, especially after 10 pm. Ocean view rooms are great. It is one of few facilities in Conchas Chinas with two bedroom suites. The process for booking a-la-carte restaurants can use significant improvement. There is no option for online check-in and staff will not allow for restaurant bookings until guests are checked in. The concierge closes shortly after check-in. As a result a-la-cartes are usually full and unavailable to people only staying one night. The concierge did manage to squeeze in a reservation at the Capri restaurant during our second stay this month yet we showed up at our scheduled time to find that the restaurant was closed. There is always a large fleet of small fishing boats parked in the ocean a few feet from the beach. They take up the entire swimming area for the Barcelo so you are best to stick with the pools.

I like the location , the attention it was really good with the benefits of premium level , I recommend the Italian and the seafood restaurants. The Japanese it was not good . The only thing that I didn’t like it was the SPA , the hotel Deserve to have a really good SPA .

You can smell sweat from the people who used that bed, plus they are too hard to rest your head on and sleep. For the category that this hotel has, they should use anti-allergic pillows. Also I was really disappointed about the beach accommodations and the tiny and old elevator. The kitchen and the door man staff were very helpful, nice and friendly. Some of the ladies on the front desk and concierge have a little bit of attitude when they have to deal with Spanish visitors. They automatically change the way they talk when they have to deal with people from other countries. I give this resort a 3 star.

Beautiful all inclusive resort, with stunning greenery. Rooms were well taken care of, A/C worked amazing! Our maids were always ensuring our rooms were kept tidy, mopping every other day - we did notice our bottled water was not consistently stocked. Good nightly shows, decent buffet options, lots of English speaking workers. This resort is located on a small private cove, with not much around you - be prepared to taxi! We wish there were more night life options, potentially in the centre area. The adults only pool does not have a swim up bar, but the regular pool did which was odd. We found several cockroaches at night time around the perimeter of the resort, which gave us the ick - l did not ever see one in a washroom, or restaurant. The bartenders made very strong drinks, and several "see you tomorrow" comments were made - so strong you could not enjoy your beverage. Our friends stayed in tower 2 and noted while their 1.5yr old was napping, someone from service knocked then let themselves in to change a filter. They also commented that when their A/C turned on, they would get a septic smell throughout their room. Several other reviews stating in room theft was med-high - luckily this was not the case for us. Premium rooms have 2 bed (2 twin beds), 2 bath. Regular rooms have sufficient room for a family of 3 (1 king, 2 pull out sofa beds)! Would stay here again if decent pricing, but wouldn't go out of my way to select this resort.

Our stay at the Barcelo PV was wonderful. We stayed in a spacious 2 bedroom family room with 2 bathrooms, which was fantastic. The staff were so friendly everywhere. The service was great. We enjoyed the mexcian food a lot. And our experience at all the restaurants was amazing. Pool water was warm and the entertainment staff were amazing.
