Stayed at many Marriots before with never an issue but this one needs some decent staff training and quality control. The check in was very quick and fast on getting to our room it was clear that the housekeeping was very poor with no coffee pods provided for the machine. Only one bath towel provided. Hairs in the shower. Later the bar service took ages only 3 staff on taking on average 15 minutes to get served each time many guests unhappy with lack of knowledge of products from bar staff as well. Wanted some bar snacks but the chicken skewers were overcooked and really dry so bad that we didnt eat them and the toasted brioche with my pate was burnt with little interest from the clearly very stressed staff when we commented about with no offer to replace them. When requesting to check my bill on departure it turned out part of someone elses bar bill had been added to ours really not acceptable had I just used exoress check out it would have just been added to my pre charged credit card there would have been nothing I could have done to correct it.

Prima hotel we gebruiken het al jaren, maar inmiddels wel zwaar overpriced. Voor twee nachten 725 euro (omgerekend) afrekenen is toch best heel veel geld. De value for money ratio is een beetje zoek.

We have stayed here many times. Rooms are very clean, large and well furnished. They have also recently been decorated. We had breakfast at the hotel - it is fully self service and there are plenty of options to choose from. Staff were friendly and checking was smooth. Parking is charged at £5 per night.

This is our second stay here. Definitely the best hotel in the area. Staff were friendly, rooms clean, modern and spacious. We had a bar meal early evening which was delicious and the breakfast was hot, vast and plentiful.

Attended a function 06.02.2024 and stayed in this hotel. Hotel staff excellent. Room AC noisy and furniture’s a bit outdated. Other than that, Kia, the receptionist very nice and professional.Banqueting manager and staff excellent and food serve on the function, very nice and tasty. Compliments to the chef. Hotel has a free parking for residents which is a plus.

Staff exceptionally helpful cannot fault . Unfortunately attention to detail lacking , in lift posters spelling / grammer mistakes. Cobwebs & build up of dust on wall lights in restaurant, beds too soft after 4 nights stay backs ached. General ambiance of bar area more like airport lounge . Hotel generally and room specifically far to hot ,( even with air con on full blast could not get room cool enough. )

Walked upto reception and one receptionist was stood deeply engaged with looking at herself on her phone camera - really bad first impression. I could have walked in on fire and she wouldn’t have looked up! Woman who actually checked us in was fine. Room nice. Woken up in night by noisy people coming back from party downstairs- maybe put all those guests on same floor?

Very efficent reception staff. We were tired after a long day travelling and our room was comfortable and well equipped. We didnt quite manage to work out the temperature setting in the room but we were cosy enough under the duvet. Excellent breakfast in a very busy dining room but well managed by the staff.

Parts of the hotel were too hot.

Staff welcoming and helpful. Room had a slight smell of damp but nothing horrid. TV had basic channels. and no smart features. Room service was fine, not cheap. It was a practical solution for our purpose. Not great value for money, but there were no family rooms elsewhere despite booking very early.

Was our go to hotel but not any more.
The Marriott was always our go to hotel in Portsmouth, especially as it had a pool and stayed at least 12 times over the years. After not staying since Covid, we thought we'd try again. Not any more though. Pool gone and now had ugly green tall tarpaulin around it. Staff were friendly enough on reception. Restaurant didn't seem to understand our order and that our bill was wrong and automatically added 12.5% service fee. We didn't even get a bill at our table. All felt very rushed.

We had a good stay here, in what is a good quality hotel, marred by a couple of annoyances. The rooms were nice, the breakfast was very good (and not too pricey) and location wise it was great. The hotel is clean, smart and the staff all seemed friendly and helpful. Some things stopped it from being a five star review however… In our room, the AC was abysmal and even on its lowest setting didn’t feel like it was blowing out anything. It was a warm evening and all of us had restless sleep as a result. Wi-Fi was a bit of an annoyance, not working at all for us, and took a call to a friendly reception worker to sort. Finally, one of the room maids tried to get in our room at about 7.45am, which is the first time I’ve ever had this happen. Luckily we had the chain on, else she’d have been walking into a room with children still asleep. Overall a nice hotel however, and I would return.
