This is a beautiful property and if you enjoy nature it is the one for you. So many incredible animals, wild life, and plants to enjoy. The property is older and some areas are showing that but you can also see where improvements are being made so it is in no way a deterrent.

Their customer service it’s very poor,rooms were very dirty, fridge didn’t work at all we reported to the front desk they never came to check on it . Pool service was bad too, towels are stain. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my family or friends

The hotel is beautiful but it is huge so it’s a lot of walking to get anywhere. The staff is friendly but very much selling a timeshare type of thing. If you don’t agree they seem to be less nice and accommodating.

Property is nice a lot of walking to and from dinner. A few things need some organizing but other then that stay was nice with access to Xcerta park . We pre purchased tickets to the park for 9am when we got to the entrance for our wrist bands a couple of people were buying tickets then call everyone in there group to come I asked Alberto running the ticket booth if we can get our band and go ahead which would of took 3 minutes , he said wait our turn so people who had not purchased tickets formed a line and 40 mins later we where able to enter , it would of been easy to get the people who pre purchased out of the way then deal with the large group that only half of the people where there at the time we arrived.We had to ask lots of questions to figure out the flow of things that they should tell you upon arrival. The staff is super nice.

The occidental at xcaret is unique because of the incredible amount of wildlife, there are maya ruins scattered throughout the property & there is private access into Xcarat a five minute walk from the hotel . This resort really embraces it's Yucatec mayan roots & that is a standout feature in my opinion the staff are amazing i took my daughter here for her thirteenth birthday & we had a blast.

We leved this Hotel, the Room was superb, the pools the beach, and all those restaurants are very good and the food is excelent. If you are planning to do the Xcaret Parks and Xlopre this is the Hotel you need to stay at. walking distance to Xcaret ( 6-7 Minutes) and about 18-20 Minutes to Xplor Park, you can walk from Xcaret after you finish the park , take a bath and dinner in the Hotel and walk to the magnificent show in the Xcaret and 7.00pm, is only 5-7 Minutes ftom the lobby of the Hotel. Highly recomended , I would come back later to this Hotel in ordern to visit the other parks there (Xel Ha and visit the Mayan Ruins of Chichen Itza)

Taxi is a scam. For a 5 -7min drive to 5th avenue they charge u 27USD one way . Don’t use your card I did and they charged 800mxn pesos way over 27usd and manager and front lobby did nun abt it . Also the rooms come w one sheet not a blanket . And patio is dirty . And a lot of older senior couples and locals . Not alot of Canadians or Americans and if they are they are anti social and not much of a party life in resort what so ever

The property itself is gorgeous but the service was horrible. No clear answers for anything. Phone not working in the room. Food was awful. Unable to get a wheelchair from the hotel. From the moment we checked in it was chaos.

This was a very large property, we stayed in the Expedia building which was almost 1/2 mile from the lobby and 1.22 miles round trip from our room to the beach restaurant. Getting in a lot of walking was nice, but hot. Lots of animals on the property, agouti, coati, deer and monkeys, pretty neat having them onsite. The pools weren’t very cold, no fault of the facility, just due to the heat and depth. The Xcaret park is very close and does have an underground river that is very refreshing in the heat. Staff was very friendly, but a lot of staff onsite trying to get you to join the vacation club, which gets tiring. Not a lot of staff serving drinks while you’re at the pools, you do need to go to the bartender and if it’s at the swim up bar most people take up the spots and make it harder to get a drink. Nice that they have a nightly show and it changes each night.

Ricardo Be (Hotel Manager) And Claudia Barrientos (Front Desk) are two lying people. After making a promise to refund 3 of my 7 days due to refusal of food service during a medical emergency, he has lied and I just received notification from Expedia that I will not be receiving my money back. I’m pissed and I will make complaints to their corporate office. It’s also terrible that Expedia did not honor the refund given the situation. I will be posting everywhere how both this hotel and Expedia basically took our money and did not provide the full service that we paid for.

On the other hand I would like to clarify that for safety and health reasons guests are not allowed to take food from the restaurants, however, you were provided with complimentary room service throughout your stay.We are very concerned that despite of several efforts, we unfortunately failed to please you during your stay. Staff was rude and didn’t want to give us our room! I had made reservations two months prior to our trip and they had me and my husband wait a whole day to get sent to a different location close to a noisy warehouse unit and surrounded by families with crying babies all night! A I asked to please respond and they said since I booked through Expedia they should have explained that my reservation wasn’t valid! They mentioned that if I had booked directly through Barcelo they would have given us the perfect reservation!!! Idefinitely wouldn’t go back and the food and service was not good! Overall regret spending my hard earned money for such trrrible service!!

El lugar es muy amplio y lleno de vegetación. La habitación era cómoda aunque con detalles de limpieza. La comida fue un 3/5 la variedad en los snack bars y buffet eran muy limitados y sin sazón. Los restaurantes a la carta fueron lo mejor en cuanto a calidad. Las bebidas eran inconsistentes, no lograba conseguir el mismo cóctel dos veces ya que sabían muy diferentes. La calidad de bebidas alcohólicas muy deficiente. Nunca conocí a mi concierge, siempre fui yo quien tuvo que acercarse a sus escritorios. El equipo de concierge debe involucrarse más con el huésped.
