Disaster hotel
Regent hotel has quite a few flaws both with the hotel and the staff. First of they do not answer by email, even though mail was sent a week before arrival. I also tried using the hotels contact scheme. Arriving the hotel, they had messed up the reservation and we ended up not getting what we have payed for, they did not even compensate for the mess up. The hotel is old and in shabby state and the staff is not very polite. I've been traveling around and staying in cheap hotels before, but this experience was probably one of the worst. Would not recommend this hotel.

This newly renovated Muthu hotel, The Regent, will please those who like to be within walking distance of the center. The rooms in the historic section are comfortably spacious with high ceilings and large windows.
The new interior has mostly maintained historic elements with whimsical decor elements here and there.

Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und bemüht. Das Zimmer neu renoviert, aber aber etwas unsauber gearbeitet. Das Bett sehr bequem, Aussicht leider auf Hinterhof mit Küchengerüchen. Die Lage ist hervorragend, leider keine Parkmöglichkeit, nur auf öffentlichen Parkplätzen. Für ein paar Tage eine gute Unterkunft!

We were really disappointed with our stay. The lift was not in working condition, which should have been mentioned on the site when booking. Our room was tiny and the bed blocked the door to the bathroom, had we been any bigger there is no way we’d squeeze in. Staying on the 4th floor in May, for some odd reason the heat was still on in the hallways making the rooms very warm with no way to cool it off. There is also no parking on site and staff were very unclear about where to
Park and actually advised us to park in a no overnight parking area. Overall this was definitely not worth the amount paid and I would not stay at this hotel chain again.

Room comfortable and clean.
Breakfast, plenty of choice but a bit disappointing. Alot of the cooked food was, at most, tepid if not cold. My bacon was tough from being left in heat too long. Not a good way to start my day.

Truly awful
Hotel is dated. Not clean. Needs refurbished. The shower is like a water canon. Not for the faint hearted. The wall was half papered. We got an 11 am check out. House keeping was chapping at 9am, hoovering outside the room early. Just awful
The lady on reception was nice and helpful

Better days !!
The hotel has seen better days and needs major investment to restore it to its former glory The Art Deco exterior and interior require major work. Some of the interior paintwork had been touched up however this had been done very badly and flooring curtains carpets and hand rails were smeared with white gloss paint all adding to the general feeling of being run down and uncared for! The lift was broken this wasn’t helpful as I have a heart condition and I struggled with the stairs .
Our allocated room had seen better days and the noise from the extraction unit from a nearby restaurant was deafening but to be fair the receptionist we were promptly offered a choice of 2 alternative rooms . We opted for a room with a view to the harbour but this necessitated me struggling with another 2 flights of stairs !! The beds were comfortable and the linen and towels were clean. The shower worked well . The bathroom was clean and had been painted however the general appearance was spoiled again by smears of gloss paint on the flooring which any reputable painter and decorator would have removed . Breakfast was good and plentiful . Staff were friendly and helpful I think possibly to cover their embarrassment at the state of things . What a shame for this grand old building and the staff who work there ! Not to mention the guests ! In a strange way we are drawn to go back and see how things have worked out!

Hotel was tired looking and seems to be going through a renovation. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was excellent with a good powerful shower... once I managed to get it working!!! Breakfast was ok. Not a fan off deep fried sausages thiugh.

The reception was very friendly and efficient. The location of the hotel was really good. Sadly it’s run down and in need of an upgrade. The wall in my room was only partly wallpapered for some reason. The room was well equipped with tea/coffee and toiletries and was also clean. Not sure you can expect more for the price to be honest

On arrival the manager was very jovial and standoffish . He gave us our key and off we went to our room when we got to our room there was only one bed we had asked for a double and a single as our son was with us . I went to change our room and the manager was coming up on the lift with another key which was fine , he took us to the room which he had to knock incase someone was in which was alarming in its self . There was no sea view but promised to change us over in the morning , on the morning my partner went to the front desk and the young girl who was pleasant said that it would not be a problem come back in and hour and the too
Will be changed , we went for breakfast and came back she said it would be an hour so we went about our business and on arrival back at the hotel the manager took us to one side and said it wasn’t possible to change rooms or a refund . Which would have been fine if we hadn’t paid for the sea view on the first place , he offered an extra night which wasn’t feasible as we were both working the next day , totally ruined the feel good factor of why we were there to enjoy ourselves. I would give this hotel a body swerve and pay a bit more extra for somewhere else . Trust me I’m doing you a favour.

AVOID unless you want to be told on arrival (well the night before they had tried to ring once, whilst I was travelling there with no network) that you need to check out after 1 night (of a 4 night paid booking) as they are closing the hotel. Didn't care in the slightest I was left with nowhere to stay in Oban, no assistance or care, and not bothered at all when I told them I had paid upfront the full amount for 4 nights and out of pocket (they were also still advertising rooms for the dates they said were closed). Completely unreliable and unbothered, go anywhere else if you don't want to be scammed with terrible service and end up paying twice for accommodation. The only plus the night porter was lovely.

NYE Disappointing stay
Hotel advertising images on hotels.com are not a true representation of the hotels condition. Our room 219 was in serious need of some TLC. The bathroom was unfinished, no extractor fan (wires hanging out the wall). There was also no mirror in bathroom.
The bedroom decor was extremely dated, chipped and needing a refresh. Very basic and missing all additional room dressings that images show.
At breakfast we were greeted by a very rude member of staff that made us feel uncomfortable about even being there!
This hotel is not worth the money and we are extremely disappointed in the service and condition of the regent hotel.

Pleasant stay right in the centre.

Does what it says on the tin
Excellent location with good views. This hotel is rather dated, but in generally satisfactory condition, and for the price charged, a real bargain. Lift works well, room keys are keys, not cards, my room wasn’t double glazed, but hey, the rather old-fashioned heater worked well. Sink was in my small single room rather than in the shower/toilet room but no real inconvenience. Everywhere seemed clean, if worn. Breakfast very much standard fare, but the only real gripe was that the quality of food provided wasn’t all that good - but you certainly get more than you pay for.

Pictures of the rooms offered are very different from what you end up with! Tried to get a different room & was told nothing else was available even though the hotel didn't appear fully booked. I could barely fil on the toilet or get into the shower. None of the chairs in our room were big enough for me to sit in. The elevator was another joke! Only myself & my luggage could fit into it, my husband had to ride up separately. Our view out of our window was of a trash alleyway. Not alot of parking close to the property for a disabled person to easily get into. Staff forgot to give us extra pillows 3 times, but was otherwise pleasant. Disappointed for sure!

An OK Oban hotel for a one night stay
An OK stay that could have been much better.
Hotel has some character but needs some money spent on the fabric of the building that would make it great.
Well placed in Oban, we stayed on a Sunday night and was quite quiet.
Room was a wee bit grubby in places and could benefit from a deep clean.
Shower and bathroom was good and breakfast was your average hot cooked buffet style food.
Dinner was OK, you can tell the hotel is used to catering for bus parties, fairly basic food,and limited menu, but OK.
Receptionist was really nice and welcoming, and is a good hotel to stay at in Oban for one night.

A very pleasant stay. The sea view from our room was fantastic. The buffet breakfast was really good.

Great location
Great location and got a lovely view of the harbour. It is a little tired and the beds aren’t that comfortable, but the staff are lovely and the rooms are clean. For the price and 1 night stay it was adequate
