Komfortabelt
Sjarmerende og eldre bygning. Jeg og ungdommen trivdes godt. Føltes ekte. Ikke trendy eller moderne. Gode senger, og stort bad. Nærme tog og buss-stasjonen, og fergekaia. Vi bodde i tredje, uten heis, men var en nydelig trapp.

Comfortable with everything I needed. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The room is above a bar but no noise traveller to the room. The room was quiet, cosy and comfortable and I slept so well. Great location close to the centre of Oban. Excellent value for money.

Didn't use the bathroom except toilet, very old corroded sink, mouldy showers unit and dirty shower head. Flooring in bathroom needs replacing. Smoke detector had wires hanging down from ceiling with no cover. I have pictures, but unable to submit them.

The Claredon shows its age for sure but that is to be expected... however, it is in a fantastic location location ! It is very basic, but has everything you need. I would not recommend if you have a hard time with stairs as there is no lift. All in all..it was all good.

No free parking. Live music until nearly 1am. Not ideal. Was warned it would be u til midnight but it wasn’t the case. Room Clean, basic, had to buy loo roll as there wasn’t enough. Cheap and based on previous reviews I wasn’t expecting much for the price. Sufficient to sleep and shower but be aware of loud music until early hours

This property attempts to call themselves a budget hotel however it is not. A budget hotel is rough but clean. I realise that there are plenty of reviews saying that this is a clean facility but it is the furthest from the truth and I am not a fussy person. The beds in room #1 were pushed up against the filthiest wall I have ever experienced. It was nauseating to look at. Pictures don't even catch the level of smears and dried liquids. I can handle stained carpets and even the mold in the bathroom but this was reprehensible. Our second room was less disgusting but no less inadequate to be considered a budget hotel. I was actually quite angry that expedia would even list such a property. I would never have stayed except I was forced to pay up front before I even got a look inside. You only get one key per room and that key is needed to get inside the hotel itself which leaves you stranded outside when it doesn't work. Nobody running the hotel is on the site you are simply handed a key from a person at the bar. Trust me when I say there are better options. We stayed in a youth hostel the previous night and that was impeccably clean and considerably quieter. I always travel extremely budget and have never experienced something this disappointing. I read the reviews that stated that it was clean but just outdated. That was not my experience at all nor the experience of any of my traveling companions.

Hôtel à éviter ! Je me suis fait dévorer par les punaises de lit, trou dans le sommier et vétusté des équipements. Sans oublier le patron et ses employés complètement soûl à toutes heures de la journée.

Older building centrally located. Very close to the train station, shops, eateries, and the Distillery. Proprietors kindly let me stow my bags in the closed bar area while I went for a distillery tour since the train station lockers were out of order. Perfectly adequate ensuite room lodging at hostel prices and more conveniently located. In room kettle, tea, coffee, tv. Would recommend if you're on a budget.

Nothing unique about this place. It's cheap but not cheerful. I have stayed in a lot of budget hotels in many countries. This is one of the worst.

DID NOT LIKE ANYTHING. it is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, was that bad was booked for 2 nights only stayed one. and left at 6.30am to fined somewhere to stay for next night. it was filthy, Damp, carpets wore, room was frozen as heating was not adequate for the room. springs comping throne mattress. curtanas and window sills were black with dirt. shower was that cold you could take a new born baby in it. there was about a1" gap under the door that let any heat out that there was. the duvet was paper thin and the pillows were the same. had to flush the toilet 3 or 4 times to clear it. WOULD ADVISE OTHERS NOT TO EVEN THINK OF STAYING IN THIS HOTEL. as i have said in my and my wife's honest opinion you wiped your feet on the way out rather than on the way in. Very Disappointed in the condition of this hotel.

Excellent 1 night stay - highly recommended
Great value for money, friendly and helpful staff. Locals in the joining pub all welcoming. Only downside was the cold bathroom but otherwise highly recommended and great value for money.

Cheep stay to put your head down in Oban
If your after a cheep place to stay to explore Oban then this is the place. Dont expect luxury as its basic and a little run down as its an old building. For the price.. well what do you expect and i have stayed in worse for a lot more money. Bar is a good mix of ages and the locals seem to like it. Bar staff are great... Oohh and the bar prices are not too bad either 👍

This hotel is described as budget accommodation and that is exactly what it is - the general appearance of the place is tired however it is conveniently situated in the centre of the town with easy access to the train station and the calmac ferry terminal - the cost of staying here is very reasonable and the room was perfectly adequate for an overnight stay

Nice little gem in the heart of Oban.
We had a lovely stay here. The room was cosy and spacious and the hotel was perfect for the train station, harbour, shops and supermarket. On our last day all transport to Edinburgh was cancelled so we had no other choice but to stay in Oban another night. This was incredibly stressful but the two ladies, one in the bar and the lady with red hair, I'm so sorry I didn't catch their names but they were able to keep my family booked in the same room for another night. I'm so grateful for this but they very accomodating, helpful and really understanding of our situation. This is the difference between a locally owned property in a small town and a chain hotel in the city where everything has to be done via a process. Here, nothing was a bother. Oban was where I use to come up on holiday every year before I moved out to New Zealand so it's a very special place to me. The Caredon was definitely a good stay and is certainly stay here again!

The actual hotel and room is terrible. We took it because it was cheap and available. The place is clean but the rooms had an odor which made it difficult to sleep.

Older building in need of updates. Musty smelling hallways with ripped carpet. Must walk up 2 flights of stairs one of which is curved to access room. Friends room was another flight up from that. Bed was ok. If you're just looking for a place to sleep it's ok. Not what I expected or wanted on my vacation.
