Not my first or second stay at the Tillary. Very interactive staff at desk and maintenance-except the housekeeping staff who don’t speak English! Had to have coffee maker replaced, twice, and wasn’t able to convey the exact problem. I had three coffee makers during my three night stay! I love the bare floors and my room was cleaned daily when I only asked to have towels replaced. Nothing to complain about, though.

Upon arrival the staff was not very friendly. Next day I had gone to the cafe and no one was there. When I asked if they could get someone to assist me they said the person would be back. I waited for about twenty minutes. Then I asked again and a gentleman got out and got me coffee. The coffee is was poured from a carafe and it was cold. When I requested a fresh set of towels only two towels were brought. Extra toilet paper was not provided. Only one roll was in the bathroom. We had to request additional paper as well.

The hotel provided a room without hot water in the shower, called front desk and they never sent anyone after a while I walked over to the desk and the said they will send someone over in 5 min and they never did. The Wifi didn’t work and I was not able to work. I would not recommend to stay here.

Highly disappointed with my stay. The room was not the size I ordered. Then when we went to the bathroom, it smelled like the last customers hot boxed the bathroom with cigarettes. When we called customer service around 3pm, they told us that all the customers were checked in, and they couldn't accommodate us in a change of room either. The only thing that could remedy our problem at this point is if they refund our stay at this ramshackle establishment.

We got a room with the most uncomfortable bed. It just seemed like they replaced the mattress with a cheap one. I’ve been to the Tillary before but I’ve never experienced this. Also we tried to turn on the heat because it was a little chilly in the room but the heat was just blowing cold air. I just think we got stuck with a bad room because the Tillary usually always on point.

Location is next to the Manhattan bridge and you can hear every car that passes by 24/7 which kept me up throughout the night. I don't believe the windows were sound proofed (I live on a major thoroughfare at home and can barely hear outside noise/traffic so I have a good sense of what to expect in this situation). Shower head was not working. Water was barely warm. No face rags. Few linens overall. Table in room was visibly unclean. There was on site construction that was not disclosed. Also the reception area was very drafty. Few to no amenities on site. Staff were professional and quick with providing their service--only bright spot of the stay. Would not return or recommend unless issues are addressed.

Four (4) night stay and here's my take: Pros: (1) Walking distance from a major shopping area, Long Island University and the Barclay's Center (NBA Nets). (2) If you're driving, both the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, along with the Brooklyn-Queens expressway are all within two blocks. (3) The hotel has a cool bar that's small, but nice and serves hot food, along with a rooftop deck for small events or catching some sun. (4) The front desk staff was courteous. Cons: (1) Parking in the garage is not only $55 per day, but there's also no in and out service. So, if you take your vehicle out during the day, you will be charged again upon return. The other garages in the area operate in the same fashion. There is street parking available around the hotel, but because of the high school at the corner, that parking only becomes available after school hours and on weekends. (2) The $25 service charge for two bottles of water per day, gym and WIFI access you will be hit with upon checking in amounts to a rip-off and somewhat of a hidden charge since it's not calculated in your booking fees. (3) There is no sound barrier protection or seal between room doors, so if you get a connecting room, to which most rooms are, you will hear the entirety of your neighbor's conversation as if you were there sitting in the room with them. (4) The breakfast option is not worth purchasing, because it doesn't include any hot foods. (5) No room service option. Conclusion: Better alternatives exist
