«A picturesque inn, in a beautiful area. Staff made us feel welcomed the moment we stepped through the door. Throughout our stay, everyone was so helpful and friendly. Clean and tidy room with spacious bathroom. Meals were excellent. Chefs are first class and every meal cooked to perfection. Quality food. A hearty breakfast provided a great start to our days. «We had a really excellent 5 day stay. Our room (3) was huge with 2 kingsize beds and a large sofa. Bathroom was also a good size. The breakfast was good with excellent friendly, prompt service. A really good location for visiting the area and not too busy. Parking was never a problem. It would have been useful to have some plug-in bed side lights rather than battery operated nightlights. «We can not fault anything, it was absolutely beautiful, we stayed in the gatehouse room which was incredible and extremely comfortable, the inn it’s self is so cosy and it’s definitely the friendliest inn that we have been in, the food was 10 out 10 the views from the beer garden where beautiful, the staff where so lovely and nothing is too much for them, they just want to look after you. «Fantastic stay at the Allanton inn. Bar and restaurant is great, especially having a drink in the large outdoor area. Staff are very helpful and extremely friendly. The bed in our room was a little hard but it this is a minor issue for such a great stay. »

«Great place as a base for exploring the Borders. Overall stay was good. Room was exceptionally clean(had a couple of minor niggles but these were dealt with happily and swiftly). Stayed in a double which was quite small (with only one bedside table). Would 'upgrade' to a larger room if staying again. The best thing about this hotel is the people and the outstanding service they provide-nothing too much trouble and so friendly. Ooh- and good food including a fab breakfast. »

«We had a lovely stay. As we visited for an event nearby there wasn’t much time to explore the area but the cottage was a great base. The welcome pack was a nice surprise. The dogs loved the large garden and we would definitely return.»

«Lovely spacious well-heated house in beautiful countryside. We had a week of snowy weather which was heavenly. Edward, the owner was extremely helpful. He towed out some cars which got stuck in the car park by the house, provided lots of logs, replaced the washing machine which had problems and was generally a great help. This is a house for people who like old books and furnishings...don't go there if you want modern posh.»
