All in all a very good experience - has clearly been renovated recently, which shows.
Pool area very nice, lots of sunbeds in different sections. No issues of people "reserving" with towels, but might have been a bit out of season. Poolside cafe/lounge very nice too, menu very similar to other Riu hotels I've stayed at, with a nice selection of snacks and meals.
Extensive breakfast buffet with a wide selection of hot and cold food. Stay away from the watery scrambled eggs, but no problem as lots of other good egg choices, boiled, fried and omelettes. Never tried the dinner, even if it was included - the reviews about it not too tempting (a given table every night etc), and much prefer to go out to eat.
Friendly service at reception, always helpful with my questions. Had some issues with the cleaning staff - put out 'Do not disturb' sign on some of the evenings, first morning it had disappeared, so cleaning staff came in very early. Got a new sign which stayed, but cleaner still came in the next morning. Very apologetic about it though, and sign was respected since.
Good gym near the pool area with a treadmill and a few new exercise machines. A bit odd that there were no dumbbells or free weights or anything, though.
There was an internet corner at reception with 90 minutes free wifi each day, but as I wanted wifi in my room, I booked it for the whole week for a reasonable fee. Slightly flaky in the room (4th floor), but no issues by the pool and in the cafe.
