Perfect getaway in town
Easy trail access, architecturally unique cozy property. Quiet, in the woods, but close to town. Excellent fireplace. Splurge for the firewood if it’s cold. Can’t wait to see it in the spring.

Very Different but very unique stay
We had a very nice time at Deep Woods House. The home is very convenient for anything you might want to do in Fayetteville . It is, just as the name suggest, in the woods. It might be difficult to find if you are arriving for the first time after dark. The home was very clean on the inside. The house feels like an awesome cabin but it could use a little TLC on the outside. Pros: very unique, good location, Emily, the caretaker is very responsive and polite. Cons: the deck is not really safe for very small children. Be careful on the inside, there are a few tricky steps. They are however well marked. Final con, the master bedroom is not completely divided from the living area. The wall behind the Master bed does not go all the way to the ceiling. Again, we had a great time I just wanted to be completely honest for other renters.

Great Fayetteville Hideaway
Such a unique location and house near Fayetteville. Perfect location to be close to University of Arkansas, but feel like you are in a remote, serene and relaxing destination. Perfect for a family getaway to reconnect and spend quality time together. The host was very friendly and easy to contact and communicate with when you have questions about anything. The only negative I would say is that I wish when we arrived that the deck would have been clean and the leaves/branches swept off so it felt more inviting. There was a broom that we found so we cleaned off all of the decks ourselves. Just a small detail that should be considered. We would chose to return to this house again. We had a wonderful stay!

Memories made at Deepwood House
Our family has enjoyed the beauty of the Deepwood house over the years while our daughter was attending the University of Arkansas. It is a special place to unwind, reunite, celebrate holidays, and honor milestones like graduation. Emilie is a wonderful host and has always made us feel welcome and ensured this special home was ready for our arrival. We have enjoyed having family dinners on the deck overlooking the beautiful scenery of this Natural State. We are grateful to the Butt family for sharing their historic and unique home.

Amazing, natural, time capsule of a home
This place is amazing. Be sure your car is not low to the ground, as you must drive on a dirt road to get to the property. The hosts were wonderfully accommodating. I absolutely love the guest book. Our hiking plans got rained out so we enjoyed the house all day playing games we brought. The home is stunning and incorporates nature at so many details. It was so lovely.

Still great.
This was my second stay at this property. It is a hidden gem on Vrbo. It is a historical treasure and architectural masterpiece. There’s no way to be disappointed in this place. So glad I was able to stay here again and hope can return as soon as possible.

Lovely, relaxing weekend
My husband studied as an architect (no longer practicing) so we were very excited to stay here. It is a great home! In response to some other reviewers, I would say to consider this the nicest rustic cabin you could stay at. It is very much in the woods, and the home is older, and in a style that might not appeal to some. The photos are 100% accurate, so you see where you are staying. If you have any questions, please reach out to the caretakers in advance, they were very helpful (and we loved meeting their dogs). Our only problem was finding the plates and glasses! (Got to love this style of hidden cabinets. We thought it was funny.) Make sure to take the time to look over the books. There are true beauties there. We loved it and hope to be back!

Nice property but needs some work
This is an older home and a bit run down. The exterior is in serious need of maintenance but the inside is nice. Unfortunately the fireplace has not been cleaned or maintained in some time and as a result the living room and master bedroom have an overwhelming smoke odor which required us to leave the doors open, purchase odor neutralizer and repeatedly spray it in the living room and master bedroom in order to deal with the smoke smell. This was the most major problem we had with the place (and it is MAJOR.) The exterior of the home is overrun with spiders which surround the mostly unscreened windows so you either have to keep them closed or deal with bugs coming into the house. There are no shades or curtains in any of the bedrooms which is a bit troublesome given the close proximity to the host's quarters which are within 50 feet of the house. There are no USB ports anywhere in the house and the A/C outlets are FEW and far between especially in the master bath which is very small and could use a make-up mirror and additional lighting. The layout of the property is user friendly and Emily the host is very nice and accommodating. It's kind of a cool place off the beaten path and quiet but I recommend a higher profile vehicle to get up the long gravel road (which is in disrepair) because you will bottom out in at least two places on your way up to the house. On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate it a 5, mostly due to the smoke smell from the fireplace. Without the smoke smell I'd give it an 7+.

Thank you for your very detailed review. We are available 24/7 during your stay and encourage our guests to reach out during this time if there is something we can do to make your time here more enjoyable. Deepwood House is on the historic register and located deep in the forest on Mt. Kessler. As we discussed on our phone call this is prime spider season and due to the record rainfalls our gravel road experienced major erosion. We take the screens out seasonally for repairs and maintenance when windows typically wouldn’t opened due to hot or cold weather. Our road has been repaired and will be paved in August on the steepest slopes to prevent erosion in the future. We would be very grateful if you could please remit payment for the 5 undeclared overnight guests you had during your stay as it is now 30 days past due. Thank you!

Family Time
My husband and our two adult sons stayed 3 nights at Deepwoods. We enjoyed the deck, the peaceful wooded setting, and the privacy of the property. We explored Devil's Den State Park, Crystal Bridges, and Downtown Fayetteville during daylight hours and evenings we were at the house playing cards, board games, and enjoying quality down time. The property was just what we hoped for!

We had an amazing week adventure at the Deepwoods house My teen sons loved the chickens, dogs, kittens, deer, Guinea hens and so many other natural wonders Spent the days Hiking the paths, trail biking playing board games and just enjoying the amazing view from the deck Arriving to a well lit, clean, firewood ready fireplace to take the night chill off and finding fresh chicken eggs in the fridge was a welcomed surprise Thank you Emilie & Jackson Next time we come we are going to book a guide fishing trip with Jackson See you all soon

Deepwood Peace

Beautiful and historic home in serene setting
My family and I loved the property. The house is wonderful and historic, with some information on site about how it was designed and built, and even featured in House and Garden when it was built. My daughters especially loved the chickens on the property and followed them around everywhere. We visited Crystal Bridges one day and puttered around Fayetteville the rest of the time, which was lovely and great to visit, including the Arkansas campus, the town square, and all the little shops and restaurants. The scenery was beautiful was as well, including the wonderful view right outside our own window on Mt. Kessler. I should also mention how wonderful Emilie was to work with, and she humored my family and I by letting everyone pet the chickens. We hope we get the chance to come back and visit again soon!

Beautiful setting in the woods. Access to the Fayetteville hiking trail system 100 feet from the property. The home is vintage and throwback to the 60’s, plus modern upgrades. Emily who manages the property was awesome. Amazing outdoor access, yet 10 minutes from campus.

UCI world championships!
We stayed in this house to be close to cycling and hiking trails which are right behind the property! Plus we attended the three day UCI cyclocross world championships. The whole weekend was a blast and the house was perfect for our group. We felt worlds away from the crowd but were very short drive to Centennial Park! It was a great weekend!

Graduation!
We have stayed here at this property several times while our daughter was at UARK. It was only fitting to stay for her graduation. This is a great historic home that is unique from anything else you with find in the area. Emilie is a great host and is always available if needed. House is clean and has everything that you need. The Deepwood House--A Special Place
The Deepwood House, nestled deep in the woods near Kessler Moutain, was amazing and wonderful just as was the host, Emily. With changing pretravel plans due to the world we currently live for a gathering we intended to have with family and friends, Emily was most kind, gracious and understanding of our circumstances and made it possible for us to still get together. Deepwood will also always have a special place in my heart as several years ago when my aunts from Japan came to a memorial service for my parents stayed here. In addition, we knew the Fowler family growing up in Fayetteville—so for many reasons the Deepwood House is special. I highly recommend staying at the Deepwood House if you have the opportunity while visiting or staying in Fayetteville. It is a unique, gorgeous, one of a kind property with a splendid host.

The perfect getaway
My husband and I stayed here as a last minute getaway after being on the road for three months and it was wonderful. We fell in love with the house and surrounding area and didn’t want to leave. An Excellent place to stay
Deepwood House is fantastic- an Architectural gem in an amazing setting. the property manager was terrific from first contact to farewell. If you are looking for a unique and seclude (yet close to all things Fayetteville) property, your search has ended. such a neat house in such a great location...The incredible Mt Kessler trails right out the door makes this a trail-lovers dream. We highly recommend this property.

Relaxing stay
Deepwood House provided a break from hurried schedules. The beauty of this place is calming and renewing. We had a wonderful time spending the long Easter weekend here. We enjoyed seeing the chickens each day and having coffee on the desk. Mt. Kessler hiking trails are literally just steps from the house. Emilie was very responsive with any questions we had. We are looking forward to returning.

We can’t recommend this residence more! From the gentlemanly feline keeper of the home, Bradley, to the delightful cabal of hens who greeted us each morning, we loved our stay at Deepwood. Each corner, surface and vista were so thoughtfully imagined and rendered, it was a pleasure to welcome spring in this architectural gem.

Not just a place to sleep but an experience
This was a weekend of celebration for our family. My son graduated from the University of Arkansas and it was my husbands 70th Birthday. I wanted to stay somewhere very different and special. This house was just that. My husband is an architect. He really enjoyed the experience. Also, many thanks to the hosts for always responding quickly to our questions and our needs.
