Ærverdig hotell med gode senger
Fine rom med gode senger. Badene ser ut til å være ny-renovert. God frokost. Mange smårom å oppholde seg i, men disse bærer preg av å ikke være vedlikeholdt like godt som resten av hotellet. Hotellet ligger i en rolig del av Elgin og en kan virkelig slappe av her. Eneste ulempe er at det ikke er noe pub/bar på hotellet, men betjeningen var behjelpelig med å kjøle ned forfriskninger.

Svarte ikke til forventningene.
En nedtur i forhold til våre andre opphold på lignende steder i Scotland. Stedet gir inntrykk av å være noe spesielt, ekstra sofistikert og fint på en måte, ikke minst når det gjelder hotellets restaurant. Fra utsiden ser stedet strålende og eventyraktig ut. Innsiden svarte ikke helt til dette, selv om lobby og oppholdsrom slett ikke var så verst. Rommet vårt virket noe slitent. I korridoren var veggbekledningen slitt i stykker på et av hjørnene. Badet var det minste så langt på våre 6 overnattings steder på denne turen. Betjeningen forsøkte å yte "high clas service", men inntrykket ble ødelagt da det nærmest virket som de hele tide småløp frem og tilbake. Virket som de hadde for mye å gjøre og skulle rekke for mye på en gang. Slik var det og i restauranten, som var den største nedturen. Maten smakte lite, vinen var god, men blomstene på bordet hang med hodet og virket visne. Min kone trodde hun hadde mistet servietten, men da hun skulle plukke den opp oppdaget hun at det som lå der var en gammel serviett fra en tidligere bordsetning. Hverken rommet vårt, som i forhold til det vi har fått igjen andre steder, virket uforholdsmessig dyrt, innbød til avslapping. Det gjorde heller ikke hotellets øvrige omgivelser.

Long past its best.
This hotel needs an up-grade. It probably has been a fancy place but now it has torn wall paper, chipped paint and tired looking carpets. Maybe we were just unlucky but the Bistro food we ordered was well below the standard of bar food. The staff were polite and professional but that doesn't make up for everything. Our superior room was large and clean but outside the window stood a pile of rusting paint tins and equipment so not the best of views.

The dining room for evening meals was closed, although this had no affect on our overnight stay. The full Scottish breakfast was lovely. The "sleigh" bed was very comfy. Check in and breakfast staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful.

The hotel is in a good location. It’s clean and the staff are friendly. Some of the bedrooms have stains on the carpets but I always wear slippers.

Stunning hotel but no facilities
Amazing hotel and staff were very helpful and friendly. However bar is only manned by The receptionist and no restaurant at hotel. Stunning hotel but lets it self down having no facilities.

Nice place with comfortable room. The wifi in the room was rubbish . There was also no restaurant available for an evening room. So B&B only

If I had to fault anything, it would be the getting in and out of the Bath/Shower. It was quite high with a built out bath panel. Making it a high and wide to step into. Other than that we enjoyed our stay in this elegant hotel.

A fascinating and historic hotel with good parking in a quiet location yet only minutes from major shops and the centre of Elgin. The staff could not have been more helpful, the bed was huge and comfortable and the breakfast was plentiful and well cooked.

Very convenient next to Tesco Superstore and walking distance to the main town centre. Lovely large property but is aging and needs a good refurb. Stains in carpet, kettle power cable too short to reach mains have to ask for an extension. Nice accommodating staff.

A Delightful Stay

When we pulled up the property looks amazing. Even the inside has great rooms. Then there was apparent and visible water damage and a musty smell in the air. A great building that just needs some TLC. Room was large and comfortable.
