Very good, but…
All in all a great hotel. It has a very good location in Getsemani, which is a vibrant and fun area, right outside the old town. The rooms were spacious and the outdoor areas were beautiful. Nice, small pool and a jacuzzi on the roof terrace. The negatives would be that the staff had too much attitude. Especially Abel in the restaurant was awful and at the end my group of friends tried to avoid talking to him, because of his nasty attitude and lack of service mind. Also my friends found a scorpion in their room along with other big bugs. A would definitely ask for a room on the higher floors or one of the rooms where the door is a little higher up than the ground. The hotel should spray the rooms because we also had many bugs there. But apart from Abel and the bugs, we had a lovely stay!

We have been to Cartagena a number f times. This was our best hotel experience to date. It is in a great location. Close to the restaurants but away from the walled city and all the neve ending vendors there. There is a great Salsa club just a block away. The staff is amazing. Friendly, helpful and attentive. Both teh hotel and the restaurant which also very good! The hotel is small, intimate and beautiul. We will stay here again!

This hotel is stunning! It is in a very convenient location and very walkable. The staff of the hotel specifically Rey & Elizabeth were so extremely helpful. I’m grateful that I was able to explore Cartagena from this location. In also a female solo traveler so I felt very safe!

The staff was amazing! Rey took care of us and providing options to dine nearby. The only concern is the room facing courtyard is not soundproof so picks up all the noise and sounds of other guest. Otherwise despite that...everything else outweighs the noise.

Hotel is in a great location and the property is great! However, our premium room with jetted tub did not hold up to our expectations. Personal room jetted jacuzzi and ceiling were not working the entire 4 night stay. Multiple maintenance visits could not fix the issue. After first maintenance visit, we were told it was fixed, however it still did not work and notified front desk again. After 3 separate maintenance visits we were told that we needed to reach out to Expedia. We were asking for a price adjustment since we didn't receive the amenities that our premium room was booked for. Additionally, room was about 50 feet from a rooftop bar that blasted music every night until 12:30-1:00am. We slept with earplugs every night. Hotel and grounds are beautiful, but it does not match a 5 star rating.

I was so afraid booking through a 3rd party site but this hotel is beautiful and it smells so good! Hotel Capellan is located at the corner of one of the most photographed streets in Getsamni! It is across the street from the National Park AND bonus - walk through the park and you are at the Walled City and Pegasus Walk Way!!! Really an excellent location!! Andrea at the front desk was wonderful and so was the handsome Rey the bellman. The restaurant is lovely and they gave me a welcome drink while I waited for my room. The room, a king room was on the first floor - you get to it by walking through a courtyard with little pools, exposed brick walls and plants - gorgeous! The room is beautifully appointed with 2 wardrobes, a sitting area a desk and a TV that gets Netflix - important when you want to relax after walking the Walled city! The bathroom was lovely with a shower. This hotel has an elevator up to the roof deck with the pool and bar. The pool is probably a lap pool but I enjoyed sitting in it while reading. People mentioned on other reviews that there are no windows on the first floor - my room was on the first floor and they were right but the room was beautifully lit and I realized that the windows face Calle De Sierpe as I mentioned on of the most popular streets in the Getsemani neighborhood so you probably don’t want windows that open. This was only a minor drawback for me - as I said the room is beautifully lit, but there is noise bring earplugs

Would Happily stay again.
We had a great time in Cartagena which started each day with our breakfast in the hotel restaurant. All of the people working in this hotel are welcoming, polite and helpful. Each time we walked in or out of the hotel I was greeted by name. I celebrated my birthday while in Cartagena and the hotel staff found me at the pool with a piece of cake to sing happy birthday to me - what attention to detail! Noticing the date of my birthday without being told by anyone from my family. The hotel is clean and very well located. We were able to walk to all of the restaurants we went to. The hotel staff helped us arrange airport transfers for both our arrival and departure. Quickly responding to requests I sent through Hotels.com messaging. I would happily stay at Hotel Capellan de Getsemani again.

EXCELLENT HOTEL! So beautiful and quiet. Rooms are spectacular and the pool is small but comfortable. Staff was super nice and Carlos at check in was amazing. I would stay here again for sure. If I had to critic something about the hotel was that the room floor was a little dusty but the middle of the hotel is open to the outdoor so that can happen. Other then that everything about my stay was great!

The hotel ambiance, design and location was amazing. The staff went above and beyond especially the officer that was stationed outside of the hotel. He would go out of his way to make sure our family was safe and comfortable leaving and entering the hotel. The only downfall was the hotel not willing to accommodate the days we missed due to our flights being canceled multiple times.

I would recommend this hotel for couples looking to be in the Getsemani area. Or with older kids. For families with younger kids I found it didn’t have the best amenities and for the too the family suite stairs were quite dangerous, as it had no closed railing. When I came in also they used a very strong smelling eucalyptus based cleaning product which stung my eyes. The manager was very helpful and supported the cleaning of the room to remove scent. Breakfast was excellent. I would recommend checking out the Silvia restaurant nearby as well as the whole area. Big thanks to the manager Tatiana for helping us.

Great location, beautiful hotel
We really enjoyed our stay here! It’s a beautiful, clean and comfortable hotel. It is in a great location right on the edge of Getsemani, near the old town and very close to the marina. The staff here were great and went beyond to help us when we ran into a hiccup with a guide.

I enjoyed the stay very much at Hotel Capellan. From the doormen including Rey and Neren. They were always pleasant with a smile and inquisitive if you had enjoyed yourself on the outings. The breakfast was nice although would have liked a traditional Colombian breakfast. The front desk people including Carlos was very helpful with any questions we had. We loved our rooms and the access to the first floor. The beds were very comfortable and loved the slippers and robes we were given to use during the stay. Overall, loved the hotel and how close it was to the tourist areas. Great place to take photos as well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Getsemani.

The Hotel is beautiful right near Old City! The staff were so nice & helpful. I highly recommend the Family Suite with up & downstairs sleeping quarters. If you need really hot showers then you will be a little disappointed. But, the experience is so good, I didn’t care!
