A beatiful location with much character and history. Hearing the sound of the sea from my bedroom was very special. Excellent customer service too, I would recommend a visit.

Nice, quiet hotel. Great breakfast. Lovely staff.
This is a lovely old fashioned hotel. Great, helpful staff. We stayed 2 nights and ate in the first night and at a local restaurant the second night. The food was fine, not beautifully presented but very generous. The prawn cocktail was just a pile of prawns in a sauce with a tiny salad garnish. Breakfast was also generous and well cooked. The room was lovely, it was quiet, there was a plug for a hairdryer next to a mirror and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom looked newly refurbished in a small, awkwardly shaped space. In trying to shoehorn a bath with an overhead shower into that space, neither works well. The side of the bath is so high it’s very difficult to get in and out. The H&C taps are the wrong way round. They are also in an awkward position where it’s impossible to top up with hot water without risking a burn. I scraped on the taps getting in. My husband was too tall for the shower head. Had to lean right over the toilet to put things in the bin. A shame it’s been designed like that, there are better options available. The inroom safe was on the floor so difficult to use.

Chaotic chambermaid service.
The chamber maid service was rather chaotic. Insufficient towels provided two nights running. Half bottle of wine removed. Bottle of water exploded when opened (apparently a known problem and bottle should have been opened.)

Great 4 night stay with my dog. Lovely food and accommodation in a great location would highly recommend. The staff were efficient and friendly.

It was a good stay - a comfortable, creaky , old-fashioned looking place with good service. It was quiet. The service was good - sometimes a little too good as I felt a bit rushed at mealtimes - maybe because I was in my own? The only downside I felt (which I should have mentioned at the time I know) was the water in shower/taps in room took a little time to heat up.....

Old world elegance, beautiful setting, attentive and friendly staff and incredibly food, especially seafood. With about 400 Scotch single malts, how can one go wrong!

Best in Town
Third visit but first with Hotels.com. Always a welcoming reception - nice ambiance and a historic building to boot. A bit out of the way, so a car is required if staying for any length of time. Great food & superb breakfast to order.
