Hotels.com never informed us the spa was closed!!!
My boyfriend and I booked this hotel to celebrate our five years anniversary. We were also considering hotels in London, but the spa facilities at this hotel intrigued us. At Hotels.com's website it said that there were spa, pool, etc. and that the facilities were open. However, when we arrived at the hotel, the spa was closed for renovation. The hotel had even posted this on their own website AND sent an email to Hotels.com with these changes. But Hotels.com hadn't changed it. When we discovered this, we called Hotels.com to see if there were any possibilities of changing our booking to another hotel with the spa that we were promised. The customer service were rude and not helpful at all. We ended up staying in the "spa" hotel in our hotel room (which were fine, but nothing special) because there wasn't anything else to do. We've used Hotels.com several times in the past for business and friends/family trips and have never experienced anything like this. We're very sad and disappointed that our case weren't handled differently by Hotels.com, and we will not use Hotels.com in the future.

Gym and spa were very good. Fairly clean and very friendly staff. Main complaint is the bed was very soft and uncomfortable.

Lovely area, hotel looks lovely, but our bathroom flooded when using the shower. Breakfast was limited as the coffee and milk ran out and wasn’t replaced due a while. The eggs and beans ran out. The restaurant had tv on during our meal.

Okay but overpriced
Nice, peaceful estate grounds however the rooms need an upgrade. It was distinctly average and bathroom needed some work considering how much it cost to stay there. Lovely, helpful staff and spa was nice too.

Understaffed. Tired hotel
Arrived late (8:45pm) to find the hotel had ignored my booking which clearly stated twin beds . We’d had a long journey only to find the restaurant was full and we couldn’t even order food in the bar ! They should contact guests re the need to book. Very disappointing. The hotel is bleak and needs updating . Quite depressing. Premier Inns are better . Thank fully the bed was comfortable and the gardens beautifully done . I wouldn’t stay again .

Tired and dated Hotel. Definitely for a 4-star!
This hotel is definetley NOT a 4-star. I would say it is 3-star at the most. Rooms are very dated. Felt like I was stepping back in time to the 80's... worn out tired looking carpets. Room lacking the amenities expected from any modern or 4-start hotel. Poor cleanliness. Spa facilities, okay. Again, lacked cleanliness. Swimming pool was fairly dirty. Bar service at the hotel literally non-existent. Don't expect to be served quickly or with a smile. You are better off visiting some of the quaint smart gastro-pubs nearby. The only positive I can say about this hotel is the restaurant. Food was great courtesy of a very good chef.

We had no trouble in locating the Hotel. We found all the staff helpful, professional, polite and friendly. We were very pleased to be offered an upgrade on our room which we found very comfortable and clean throughout our stay. The food was very good from the breakfast to the evening dinner. The Hotel and grounds were very well maintained. Overall our stay was wonderful and will look forward to returning.

A very relaxing pleasant overnight stay.
This place is a hidden gem. The gym overlooks the golf course, the pool and spa facilities were wonderful. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was well presented and delicious. It was surprising that the restaurant wasn't busy as we thought the service and food was great and it definitely met our standards regarding quality, presentation and tasty.

Day 1 had a good delivery driver hammering on the door by my room at 6.30am Day 2 had a linen delivery at 6.15am outside my room. Spoke politely with house keeping and discovered that waking guest at 6.15am is acceptable. It’s clearly not…..

Poor Quality Stay
I contacted he hotel prior to arriving and within the cancellation period to say that the room price had dropped significantly. They agreed to sort this for me on arrival; which they then refused to do when we arrived. Despite booking a superior room, it was dated. Furniture scrapped, a dirty bathroom door handle, lights not working. The standard lamp bulb held in place with masking tape! The meal was lovely but initially the staff forgot about us and we had to wait over 20 minutes to be served on a relatively quiet evening, and only after I asked that they take our order. To be fair, thereafter the dining room staff were very attentive and helpful feted free drinks by way of an apology. Breakfast was, at best mediocre. I had been very much looking forward to staying at the hotel, having had a significantly better experience previously. However, I won’t return.
