Mindre bra opphold. Tregt og tungvint ved innsjekk. Fikk et rom i en kjeller som var utrolig kald, selv med full varme på radiatorene. Frokost var fullstendig kaos. Ingen bord ledig, ingen kaffekopper. Måtte be om brød tre ganger. Skuffende dette.

Sentralt, god verdi for pengene.
Et sentral hotell i rolige omgivelser med meget god service. Vi ble oppgradert og fikk et digert rom til London å være. Hadde rom mot bakgården og det var veldig behagelig. Det var både dusjkab. og badekar på badet. gangavstand til bl.a. West End, Oxford street og Covent garden.

OK, but few positive surprises
Slow but friendly checkin. My single/queen bed room very small, a bit worn, and TV didn't work, but otherwise fine. Clean. Friendly and service oriented staff. Location good; quiet street, but close to Holborn tube. Overall I am satisfied, but not overwhelmed. Have seen much better deals in a London before.

God opplevelse.
Fantastisk service ved ankomst. Da vi forsto at de ville plassere oss i kjelleren ba vi pent om muligheter for oppgradering høyere opp. Vi hadde lest advarslene om disse rom! Da fikk vi et fantastisk flott rom i 3.etasje og alt i rommet var topp. Topp service fra resepsjonen under hele oppholdet. Hotellet har kort gangavstand til Oxford Street og ligger i en stille gate. Eneste negative var frokosten - kostet 36 pund for 2 stk kontinental og dårlig med påfyll. Det var det ikke verdt da det var mange gode frokoststeder i nærheten. Men alt i alt et meget godt opphold!

Vi bestilte 3 mnd i forkant og betalte hele beløpet samtidig. Etter beskrivelsen og bilder valgte vi romtype Executive Studio med stor seng. Stor var overraskelsen og skuffelsen da vi ble tildelt et rom i kjelleren, med små vinduer høyt oppe på veggen. Lukt av kjeller og fuktighet var merkbar. Eneste luftavtrekk var på badet som fungerte kun når lyset var tent. Ved bestilling var det flere ledige rom og det ble ikke nevnt i hotellomtalen at det var rom under bakkenivå. Vi er skuffet over Hotels.com's manglende informasjon i presentasjonen av et 4-stjerners hotell.

Great hotel for a London break
Perfectly located in a nice, quiet area just a few minutes walk from the Covent Garden district with theatres, shops and restaurants. A few Pubs and small restaurants were "just around the corner". My room, which was on the first floor, was spacious, nicely decorated and even had a small kitchen, which meant that I didn't have to waist my money on the rather poor breakfast the hotel could offer at a high rate. In my opinion this is a great hotel for a London weekend or holiday, and i consider staying there at later visits to London.

GREI BELIGGENHET
Vi feiret jul i London, flott opplevelse! Hotellet lå greit til rett bak British Museum, perfekt gåavstand ti Oxford str. da London stopper helt opp 1. juledag. Rolig og fint område, rent hotell og hyggelig personale. Litt minus at det ikke er hverken bar eller spisemuligheter på selve hotellet.

The Buckingham var et fint hotell. Hadde ikke frokost (dyrt - 17 GBP per person), men var store fine rom på hotellet. Kurant beliggenhet ift Oxford street og andre aktiviteter + nærhet til tube. Anbefales!

Hotel Buckingham i London - blandet fornøyelse
Vi hadde reservert to døgn for familie på fire. Ved ankomsten fikk vi uten forklaring eller unnskyldning beskjed om at vi var flyttet til hotell Portland i samme kjede (Grange Hotels) som lå lenger borte i gaten og som nok var ganske identisk. Anmeldelsen her regner vi med dermed er relevant for begge hoteller. Vi syntes det var lite ivaretakende bare å sende oss rett videre på denne måten. Resepsjonisten i Portland hotel var lite vennlig og hun var alene så hun måtte betjene telefonen samtidig med innsjekkingen. På skranken sto et par større skilt med advokattekster om erstatningsansvar m.m. På rommet ny lapp med beskjed om hvor mye man måtte betale til hotellet om noen skulle røyke på rommet. Hotellet hadde ringeklokke i døren som vanligvis var låst - kanskje pga sikkerhet, men også så man følte seg kontrollert. I det hele tatt en følelse av strikthet og kontroll som vi ikke likte. Så kom neste overraskelse: Dette hotelloppholdet avsluttet en rundreise på andre hoteller og bed&breakfasts der det hadde vært gratis og fri internett-tilgang. Ikke alltid kjemperask, men bra nok. På Portland/Buckingham, derimot, skulle de ha ca 400 kroner pr dag for å gi oss fire i familien tilgang til internett samtidig. Fantastisk. Det hadde stått med liten skrift nederst i reservasjonsbekreftelsen... Der sto for øvrig også noe som skilte seg fra alle de andre stedene vi hadde vært: Frokost ikke inkludert - og den hadde også en ublu pris. Ellers så var vinduene over hodet ikke lydisolert og det var en del trafikk i gaten utenfor om morgenenen så man bør ikke være var for støy. Hvis man av den grunn ikke ønsket å sove med åpne vinduer om natten, så fikk man merke at rommene heller ikke hadde air-conditioning. Rom i murhus blir veldig varme om sommeren... På den positive siden kan nevnes at rommene var romslige og ellers komfortable og at betjeningen vi traff mot slutten var av bedre kvalitet enn i starten.

The room was a lovely size for central London but it was tired with peeling paint and wallpaper, fraying on the bedstead, the bath facility was almost impossible to use without being a contortionist, incomplete painting on the bathroom door frame etc. The reception staff didn’t really talk to me nicely and were mostly not there. I had to wait for them to attend.

We are aware the hotel does not AC which is why we do not advertise this as part of the facilities, we provide a fan in each room for guest comfort, though we appreciate it was unusually warm for the time of year and therefore AC would be much better. We are sorry you were disturbed by the fire alarm, it is there for guests safety and a legal requirement. We are glad that it only rang for 15 seconds before our team silenced it and checked that eveything was safe.

The room smelled like an old basement and should never have been booked. We had to move to an adjacent hotel. We got a partial refund for our inconvenience, but it should never have been used.

It is a short walking distance to the British Museum, which is great. I did not like, that i got a tiny room with bed in the corner, and no even room to put my suitcase . I did not like, that it does not have a restaurant, or bar.

Thanks for your feedback. For larger rooms you can book our Superior or Executive rooms which are very spacious but costs more. The hotel is part of a small group with 3 other properties on the same street, offering a bar and restaurant 300 yards away.

Make sure you ask to get a room that is not in the basement. It is not the best experience to walk into to an elevator and press “basement” to get to your room. For the price I would have expected more. Otherwise, good location, close to the tube and really nice staff. Did not have breakfast. Many good options really close.

Our 2 rooms were clean and roomy but the building did not have air conditioning so it was hot and humid for us staying mid June in London. The location was great, easy walk to the British Museum, restaurants, shopping and bus stop.

The property is in a excellent location, a few minutes walk fro Holborn station and just around the corner from the British Museum. We were actually moved next door to the Grange Clarendon but the staff were great and I’d definitely stay there again.

Good location - tired rooms
The Grange is in a perfect and safe location for central London. It's ideal for an overnight stay for business or a cheap city break. There is no dinner service, but an efficient delivery service from local eateries. The room was tired but functional. There was no thermostat so I had to keep the window open to cool the room. The best asset was the attentive and helpful reception staff.

Due to staff shortages some of our hotels have limited facilities at the moment but we do offer dinner in some of the hotels. We open to be fully operational soon. It was great to see a London hotel of this vintage with a room that has high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. Room was comfortable if the bed was like sleeping on ply wood.

Great location, friendly staff but a bit outdated
Great location 2 min. walk from The British Museum, 5 min walk from Holburn station and New Oxford Street. Really helpful and nice staff. Small hotel in a quiet street. A bit outdated interior but it didn't bother us. Comfortable bed. We stayed there for 5 nights.

I booked 4 rooms through expedia which at the time of booking was very reasonably priced, due COVID reason 1 room was cancelled within the agreed timescale, nevertheless when I arrived at the Hotel the price per room had increased dramatically for unknown reason which the receptionist was unable to resolve when challenged. The hotel is very dated and visible defects don’t help with the appearance. The staff are very pleasant people.

The staff service was excellent as they served our needs efficiently for our two night stay. This was by providing clean bath towels and toiletries when needed. Our room was very clean including the kitchenette area. The bathroom shower was okay but it could be better. The breakfast was adequate but improvements could be made for veggie breakfast. Too much diary products in the breakfast instead of a basic English veggie fry up. Overall a very pleasant two night stay.
